The Reasoning Behind The Black Lives Matter Movement

Every day I wake up to find that another hateful crime has been committed in our country. Terms like “make America white again”, and “All lives matter” make me feel absolutely sick, and ashamed to be in this country. Now, hear me out, it is not that all lives don’t matter, because of course they do...but the movement “Black Lives Matter” was made to show support for the African Americans, and make sure it is known that their lives are no less important than Caucasians lives. So the term “All Lives Matter” is just taking the spotlight away from those trying to support the “Black Lives Matter” movement.

Many events have occurred where it seems to be blacks vs police officers. It is mostly portrayed as the police doing unnecessary actions to reprimand the black individuals. Videos have been released from certain incidents that have occurred, like Alton Sterling. He was shot several times while being reprimanded by two police officers. This has sent people up in riots, resulting in many peaceful protests. During one peaceful protest in Texas, many people were shot and killed by an armed shooter. That man was not apart of the peaceful protest. He had his own intentions of harming others. Those of us who are committed and involved in the Black Lives Matter movement, want no harm for anyone. We want justice for those killed, we want the pain to stop. The pain that is felt every time we turn our TVs on to see that just another innocent man has been shot for selling CDs. No one who is truly involved in the Black Lives Matter movement wants any harm towards white people, or police officers. We want everyone to be considered equal, and everyone to be able to live in peace. Nobody should have to live in fear that their lives will be taken, when they are truly doing nothing wrong. Black lives do matter. Cops lives do matter. Yes, all lives do matter, but those should not try and take away from the movement that others are trying to portray.

Statistics have shown that more black lives have been taken, than whites lives when police have been involved.

I want to be able to live in peace, and harmony with all of those who are on this planet. As of now, America has never seen the amount of crimes as we have within the past couple of years. This is a horrible time for our country, and I know that we are much better than this. The world needs to know that not all blacks are bad, and not all cops are racist. Most police officers truly only want to see their communities that they represent, and the world, be a better place. But of course, the world is not a perfect place, and there are police out there who are racist, and take their beliefs out on innocent individuals.

One day we will live in harmony. One day we will get justice for those crimes committed. One day we will all respect each other. But it has to start with us. It has to start with the small voices. The small voices echoing together will make a loud scream. A scream that will make a difference.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
