The President Is Not Going To Save Us.

If you are relying on a president to save you, you are wrong.

The election is in full swing. After the first debate, it seemed that everyone was talking about who won. I have opinions as to who I think won, but something that is often said on both sides of the spectrum does not sit well with me. Everyone is saying "Trump will save America from destroying itself" or "Hillary needs to win so she can save us from Trump". The word "save" is what I hate hearing people say. I personally come from a christian background so there a reasons through my faith why I hate hearing people say this, but even for people who do not believe in god, it should still trouble you too hear people saying that political candidates will "save" you. These are the reasons for both.

For Christians, or basically every other religious belief system, saying that political candidates will save us or save this country goes completely against our faith. God is the one who will save us, and by saying you are relying on political candidates to fix things for you is not only sad, but it very anti-religious. The Bible, The Torah, and other holy books all say that you should use your faith to help yourself and others, not rely on politics. So before you say that any of the candidates will save us, think about what you are actually saying in terms of your religion. If you actually believe that the president is going to save you, you clearly don't understand how the presidency works. They are not a god like figure who is going to make everything better. Especially with the candidates we have this year, we are going to get a president who just wants power. They do not care about you, and they do not care about saving you.

For those who do not believe in God, it should still make you angry to hear people saying that political candidates will save us. To rely on a president to help you through life and to make everything better for you goes completely against the idea of self preservation and the ideas that America was founded on. We are living in a time when we can all make a difference. Don't get me wrong, the election is important, but if you are focusing only on the election as a way to fix the problems we have in this country today nothing will get done. Also, as I said before, the president has no interest in you. Whether Trump is elected or Hillary, they are going to be pushing their own agenda of what they want. It will have nothing to do with helping the American people, if you haven't already noticed.

The moral of what I am trying to say is do not rely on the president and future presidents to make things better. Go out and make your life better and make the lives of people around you better in ways that you think are important too you. Being "saved" should come through uniting as Americans and working together to make this great country even better, whether Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Atheist, black, white, or any other orientation.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
