I come from a big family, and with a big family comes a lot of big things. Big fights, big drama, big fun and a lot of big love. And no one does these things better than brothers. They’re always interesting, and always a little crazy. Here are a few of the perks of growing up with brothers or having cousins or friends that are close enough to feel like brothers.
1. You’re pretty good at self defense.
Whether it’s practicing their football or wrestling moves on you, being pelted with Nerf/Airsoft bullets, or endless games of slaps and mercy, brothers sure do make you tough. And trust me, by the time one of you moves out you’ll be an expert at blocking a hit or taking someone down.
2. You’re pretty sports savvy.
Chances are, if you grew up with brothers, you spent a lot of boring days at the ballpark/field. Those long days weren’t all in vain though, because you have a pretty good understanding of multiple sports, so you’re not completely oblivious when it comes time to watch all those championship games.
3. You always have someone to defend you.
Brothers, or just siblings in general, are usually the ones who pick on you the most. But when it comes down to the wire, having a brother who you know is gonna stand up for you is the best feeling.
4. You always have someone to watch your girly shows with.
They may deny it, but brothers love watching reality TV with you. They may say it’s only because they’re bored, but we all know they secretly love watching "The Bachelor/Bachelorette" with us.
5. You always have someone to talk to.
Not only do you get a great person to give you advice, but you also get to hear things from a guy’s perspective, which is nice.
6. You have someone to talk to your crush for you.
This one is a serious blessing. Having brothers means you always have someone to figure out if your crush likes you or not. Plus, you get to do the same for them, so this one is a double whammy of goodness.
7. They teach you not to be too easily grossed out.
If there is one thing you can learn from brothers it’s that boys are weird and sometimes gross. You may never understand why certain things fascinate them or the things they choose to eat, but I can promise that nothing is gonna surprise you.
8. You always have a friend.
This one sounds a little sappy, but it’s very true. Brothers are the best friends. They’re the ones you can be the craziest with, laugh the hardest with, jam out to music in the car with, watch cartoons with, and talk about superheroes and aliens like it’s normal with. Brothers are the first friends you ever had and they’ll always love you more than they let on.Brothers can be annoying, loud, and so frustrating. But at the end of the day we all know they’re some of the best gifts we’ve ever been given.
