Usually, when you meet someone and they happen to be a college student they often ask "What school do you go to?". They reply with their school and share stories about it is to be a college student or how it is to live away from home. Penn State was my dream school, and I get a lot of questions asking why I chose to attend Penn State. I am passionate about my school, and it always excites me to share my story of why I decided to become a Nittany Lion.
Since I was 12 years old, I was already thinking about college, it's probably really weird to think about college as you are entering middle school but, I hated middle school through high school so much that I often dreamt of my future and how much happier I would be. My family and I have always been big Penn State football fans, and I grew up watching Penn State on my TV. My dad always told me how cool it would be to go to Penn State since he grew up in Pennsylvania, but didn't have the privilege of going to a four-year university. I put it on my list of colleges in which I wanted to apply. I had a list of 86 colleges then got it down to six colleges and universities. As I had gone through them, my mind always went straight back to Penn State. Penn State was my number one school on my list of six colleges. I had my backup and safety schools but at this point, I would do anything to go to Penn State.
I worked hard on my essays and thanks to my favorite English teacher; she was able to help me with two articles for Penn State. I reviewed my application at least six times then submitted my application. I waited until the end of January when I found out I had gotten accepted to one of the sixteen different Penn State Campuses. Most students want to go to the main campus, or University Park, I, unfortunately, did not get accepted that campus, but I am here at Penn State Harrisburg, which is just as dream fulfilling. Penn State is a place I can call my second home.
I am living the dream my parents didn't get to, and I know my dad is probably more excited than I am about being at Penn State, but we could put that to a test. Penn State was my future goal, and I knew once I was accepted to one of the campuses that I made it in life. Ever since I was accepted to Penn State I could not be more proud of myself, and I am thankful for my experiences that I have gone through, good and bad, that got me where I am today. I have been nothing but successful. I am here at Penn State Harrisburg, living my Penn State experience, I'm on the cheerleading team, and I am a Secondary Education Major, I am happy here. I cannot wait to say the words "I Graduated From Penn State." one day. I am proud to be a Nittany Lion and bleed blue and white. WE ARE PENN STATE!
