You know her, you love her, you may never want to be her, but you are always grateful for her. The Party Mom defined by Urban Dictionary is the "Only sober person, by choice, at a party that takes care of the drunk friends." Some love being the party mom, and others dread it and are, well, actually kind of terrible at it. You are thankful for them for more than one reason and there are some dos and don'ts of being the Party Mom.
The Dos of Being Party Mom:
--Stay sober
--Have saltines and/or other types of crackers or bread
-Bring Gatorade or water
--Bring trash bags and paper towels, they will save you and your car
-Hair ties, nobody needs stuff in their hair that will only remind them in the morning what happened
--Take keys away from drunk people
--Be prepared for someone to roll their eyes at you and think you're being too paranoid, but you're not, trust me
--Trust your gu,t if you think it's time for someone to stop or time for them to go home make sure that happens, if they get mad, oh well, they'll thank you later
--Be ready for very loud yelling and singing in your car while driving
--Have patience, you'll need it
--Enjoy yourself
--Be able to laugh at everything, there will be many funny things that occur
--Have your phone ready because the perfect photo op will happen and it'll give you something and the drunkie to laugh at as you tell them the events that occurred the night before
The Don'ts of Being Party Mom:
--Do not drink, you are the designated driver and responsible one you may not be extremely happy about it but you need to be able to drive people home safely and take care of someone in case they need it.
--Take everything seriously or to heart
--Leave people you drove at the party
--Sit in a corner and be grumpy
--Complain
--Purposely embarrass your friends
--Expect a thank you
--Encourage something you know they'll regret

Reasons to Thank Your Party Mom:
--They did something you didn't want do
--They drove you around, most likely using up their gas
--They took care of you and put up with whatever crap you may hav gven them
--They made sure you had fun while there is a chance they weren't having as much as you were
--They put aside their possible desire to do what you were doing to make sure everyone was having fun and was safe
Being the Party Mom has it perks and can be fun. But being the Party Mom is a responsibility, and one that your friends always end up being thankful for in the morning. Maybe as the party mom you cleaned up the house, tied someone's hair up for them, or just made sure everyone got home safe. Whether you liked being Party Mom or not, it's a big deal that you were one and it's important to have one. Party Mom's are actually the real party, maybe because they remember everything, maybe not; that's up to you.
