We all come across so many different types of people in our lives. Once we enter college, you meet what feels like hundreds of people a day. Yet, the big school doesn't quiet feel like home yet. One day, you find this group of people that become your favorite individuals and you want to be able to call them your sisters. These girls become your family by choice. As cliché as it sounds, the saying “it’s not four years, it’s for life” is true.
Joining a sorority was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, but let me tell you why.
- You have an entire sisterhood of girls who care about you no matter what.
- Seriously, even if you don’t want any friends, they are always there for you.
- You have to plan on having a huge wedding to accommodate for having a social in the reception.
- Not to mention the fact that you have to have so many bridesmaids…
- You always have somebody to go out with.
- You always have somebody to Netflix and chill with.
- The rewards are endless.
- No matter how much you dedicate to the sorority, you know you’ll always get something in return.
- There is always somebody telling you to make bad decisions with them.
- There are constantly sisters around to help you with life advice whether it’s about your future, boys or which shoes to wear.
- You not only have a biological family tree, you have an entire lineage in your sorority.
- You can quote Mean Girls endlessly.
- You never need to worry about not getting enough likes on Instagram.
- Even if you don’t plan on making connections in college, you have those connections no matter what.
- You share a closet with every girl in your sorority.
It’s funny looking back at high school and remembering all of the times I said to myself that I would never join a sorority. I mean seriously, all of those myths about Greek life really stuck in my mind. Yet, these girls have changed my life forever and I couldn’t thank them enough. It’s crazy to think about how much has changed in the past couple of years, but the people by my side have remained the same. Although most of us are different people from before we joined, I think most of us have changed for the better. We’ve become more loving individuals. We set high goals for ourselves because we know we can achieve the best. We become the women that we’ve always wanted to be.
