You know that moment when you’re sitting there in the library working on something and then your mind starts to wonder & you start to think about everything you have to get done within the next couple of weeks. Your grades depend on these little tedious things, then there's projects, work, essays, and exams... you have to get done, you have school work to do, exams to study for, people to hang out with, things to get done with organizations you’re involved in, applications to fill out, then you have to remember to make time to call your parents every once in awhile, and make time for your friends, and even to eat a meal, but you feel like you don’t even have a second to sit and think about any of it, so basically your whole life is in shambles. Then you hit it…. that point where you could just have a break down because it is that time of the semester…The most stressful time and here’s your signs:
- Scheduling your advisement appointment is a serious life crisis: but then your actual appointment becomes a council session.
- You’re convinced your professors are out to get you: they all schedule things to be due at the same time and exams on the same day.
- The semester has gone by so fast and you don’t even remember the last time you went home: “I promise I’ll at least be home for Thanksgiving.”
- It’s homecoming time: and you have to pomp for 24 hours straight.
- It’s formal time: You have to find a dress, your date, etc…etc..etc..
- It’s mixer time….
- So how do you have time to do anything else?
- You can’t even think about your grade or your bank account at this point: because you can’t decide which one is lower.
- You have to plan your day and hope you have time to fit in a nap.
- You thank the Lord for the days you to have a time for a 20-minute nap.
- You have go-to outfits: because you don’t want to take the time to pick out an outfit when you can use that time on something else, example: t-shirts and leggings.
- You know any bad grade will tear your final grade apart.
- You can’t remember if you had a meal today.
The best way to deal with the stress:
- Good news! All these signs mean one thing...it’s almost the end of the semester!!!
- Take a deep breath and a break: from schoolwork every once in awhile to reward yourself for all of the hard work you have been putting into this semester.
- Stay organized: if you know where things are, it’s a little less stressful.
- Eat well-balanced meals: healthy food aids in a less stressful life.
- Make studying more fun, do it with a friend.
- Make your work load easier: do a little work every day and don’t pile everything into one day.
- Try and keep a healthy balance between your friends and school.
- Time management: use your planner and worship your planner.
