Is the glass half-full or half-empty?
Throughout my brief 20 years here on this Earth, I have learned a lot of important life lessons. For example, never dress yourself without a smile, dress well because you never know who you are going to run into, and never let anyone tell you that you cannot achieve something. However, the most important out of all of these lessons is always to stay positive no matter what you are facing.
According to the Mayo Clinic, positive thinking actually can do a lot for not just your mental health but your physical health as well. Some of the various health benefits of positive thinking are an increased life span, lower rates of depression, reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease and a greater resistance to the common cold. Why would you not want to think a bit more positively if you knew all of these great benefits would come from it? What could be stopping people from not looking at the glass as though it is half-empty?
I know I am not going to be the first one to break this to you but I'll tell you anyway: life is hard. There are going to be days where you do not think anything is going your way and maybe that is the case for that day. However, according to the "Guinness Book of World Records," the oldest person who ever lived was 122 years and 164 days old when they died. While I am not saying you are going to live that long by any means, you have to think of it this way: When you wake up, you have around 16 hours to make that day amazing.
By staying positive, you will have all of the tools to do so. Instead of thinking you are going to fail that large history test, go in thinking you are going to get an A! It will empower you to be confident enough to remember something you might not have if you were focusing on the fact that you were going to fail.
There are millions of people who will not live to see tomorrow. Remember every morning to never take advantage of what you have and to stay positive no matter what situation you are in.
So how are you going to view your glass of orange juice in the morning now? As half-full or half-empty?
