Life is all about mindfulness! Whatever we think dictates our life's direction, and our thoughts possess more control over ourselves than we realize. When we emit positive energy out into the world, we welcome positive things back into our lives. Positive thinking attracts positive energy. The same applies to negative thinking, as well. When we allow our negative thoughts to consume us, the more negatives we attract into our lives. It is easier said than done, but if you train yourself to think more positively and block out those negative thoughts, you will notice a huge difference in yourself. Here are 5 ways to put positive thinking into practice:
Be kind to yourself.
When you make a mistake, don't beat yourself up over it. Avoid thoughts like "I'm such an idiot" or "What is wrong with me?" Allow yourself to learn from it and think about how you can avoid making such a mistake in the future. We are all human, and we all make mistakes! It's about how we handle ourselves when we make them that is important. Just pick yourself up and move on. How can we make improvements if we don't make mistakes?
Start a gratitude journal.
A friend of mine gave me this idea. As soon as you wake up, write something you are thankful for. Do it at the end of the day as well. Recalling things you are grateful for in a day makes you more aware of the positive things in your life.
Always be grateful.
Be kind to others. Karma is too real: spreading kindness and positivity will eventually make its way back around to you. Brightening someone's day will make you feel good about yourself, too. Little gestures like complimenting someone's shoes or letting them know that they're an awesome person goes a long way! Try it. Radiate positivity!
Be hopeful.
If today wasn't your day, plan to have a better day tomorrow. You are in control!
"Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today." -Thich Nhat Hanh
Most importantly, understand that things won't always go your way.
Remember that the world doesn't revolve around you! Once you bring yourself to understand this, the more accepting you will be when something doesn't go the way you anticipated. Life is about rolling with the punches.
