Growing up, my house was always filled with the loud sounds of dogs barking or cats meowing. There was never a day where I didn’t own a pet. And by pet, I don’t mean your typical dog or cat, I mean you name it – we had it. My friends called my house The Zoo, but I loved every minute of it. I couldn’t imagine my life without one of my pets and never want to live a day where I don’t have any. People who don’t have pets, or didn’t grow up with them make me sad. I’ve learned so much from my animals who have brought me so much joy.
Pets are so important because they teach you so many valuable lessons like responsibility and how to be a decent person. Pets, mainly dogs (cats are selfish, which is why I love them), put you before themselves. Dogs are the happiest, most selfless creatures on this planet. They would die to protect you. They always know your emotional state and reflect it. When you are happy they are ecstatic, when you are sad they will do anything to make you feel better.
I remember coming home from school one afternoon, not having a good day, and sitting on the couch bummed out. My dog knew exactly how I was feeling and came over and simply put her head in my lap and looked at me. I don't know how to explain the feeling, but she knew how I felt and what I needed. The rest of the afternoon she stayed with me wherever I went. It's moments like these that make me sad when people don't have pets.
Pets are literally a gift from God. People are great and all, but there is a connection between you and your pet that is irreplaceable. Coming home to your animals is the best feeling in the world. Whether you are having a good day or a bad day, they are always happy to see you. Your love you no matter what kind of person you are; to them you are the end all, be all.
Pets are good for your health. My cats are the only thing some days that keep me sane. They are my furry therapist who listen to my problems and complaints about life. There is a calm that pets bring to your life. My animals have helped me in too many ways to count. Besides being the best listeners, pets are also the best snuggle buddies.
If you don’t own a pet, you are missing out on having a furry best friend. Pets aren’t just pets – they are a part of who you are.
