To the High School Senior with no plan yet, truth be told you never truly figure out your plan until you get to college anyway. We all have been taught that we need to find ourselves and figure out what we want to do in life before we get to be seniors in high school. Good for you if you already have an idea of what you want to be in life or if you already know your major. In fact, it's likely that'll change (sometimes more than once). Your senior year is an important year for academics, but it's also important for much much more. Take the time to enjoy your friends. This may be the last few times you're all together. Enjoy prom, you may never have another. Most importantly live out your graduation. You've worked so hard for this moment. You deserve to take a breather and relax because you made it this far! It's not too late to take time for yourself to figure out what you want to do for the rest of your life. When you get to college, enjoy your first couple of years and step beyond your boundaries. Take classes you would have never considered taking before.
Truth is, some of you may end up taking a year or two off before furthering your education. Some may attend technical institutes while others serve our country. Many of you will go straight to college. Whatever the case may be you still have time. Opportunities are given every day, it's up to us to figure out what is best for ourselves. Until the time comes, live in the moment. Enjoy the last 4-5 months in high school while you can because it's no exaggeration when a high school graduate tells you how simple life was back then. I'm in college and I still don't know. I came into college and I thought I had my entire life figured out and what the plan was going to be. I thought I had my career chosen and nothing would ever sway my decision. That's when it happened, like every typical college student I started to question my path. I'm finding interest in other courses that I never thought I would be interested in. The point is, even if you think you have it all figured out (you really might) understand that it's okay to change your mind or dabble in other areas. You don't have to have all of your life figured out just yet.
If you have no plan yet, you're still on track. Some of the best chances are given when we are least expecting them. Have goals, dreams, and aspirations, but remember that nothing is set in stone and for now it's best that it's not. Enjoy the rest of your senior year without the hectic guidelines of a drawn out plan. Be free for the last couple of months that you have. You will have more than enough time to figure out a plan in the following years to come. A plan isn't created over night, it takes years of drafting and rearranging. So really a plan is never worth the hassle any way because life has a funny way of getting you where you need to be.
