They are the backbone of the entire team, the ones who always push you a little harder because they have that much faith in you. Anyone who plays a sport understands the importance of a strong bond between your coach and your team. The days you just don't know how much more your body can handle, or when you question your ability. They are always there to push you a little harder than you thought you were capable of, helping you grow as a player as well a person.
Lacrosse has taught me how to operate in the presence while being both physically and mentally strong. Being on a team it's vital that you trust your teammates and their ability, that's easier said than done so coach was always the one who taught us that it's okay to let your guard down. We eventually all become family and at the end of the day we learned how to always have each others' back. Coach is always the one out there helping us become better players because he wanted to, not because he had to.
When the season started it was time to get down to work. Blood, sweat, and tears may have been shed but Coach would never let us get too caught up in our mistakes or let us get too hard on ourselves. Lacrosse itself has taught me a lot about my strength and that I should never doubt myself on and off the field.
Losing a coach changes everything about the game for me. I knew nothing about the game was going be the same after hearing the news, practices were going to be quite and tournaments were going to be lonely. Sometimes even questioned if I should play anymore.
Having to make the decision to decision to keep playing or not seemed like the hardest decision I had to make. Knowing in the back of my head quitting wasn't an option, I knew what more than anything that Coach wouldn't want this player to quit.
