In life, each day is a new journey. We wake up and fall into a routine, but somehow don't realize that the unexpected will happen today. This continues on a daily basis, and as humans, our element of surprise will never cease.
I find it to be beautiful. I find it refreshing. It means that no matter what we may have set in our heads, life will go ahead and change it.
How exhilirating!!
For a long time it was scary, the control freak inside of me did not know how to handle a life where I couldn't be in control of everything. So I made control.
From germophobia to anorexia, I've experienced it all. I loved knowing that I was able to control my fate... or so I thought.
That's when I had found the passion that enlightened my every thought.
It took me 10 years to get there, 10 years after I had even started. because yoga is a journey, and it is not a goal.
I hear so many people setting what they want to do next and how fast they can get there. Don't get me wrong, that is AMAZING for almost anything you do in life. I love goals, and I love self improvement.... But in yoga, the more that you try to force something, the slower it will come. I like to compare it to writers block; Words flow naturally onto a page when you are passionate about them.
Let yourself be passionate, let yourself be open. Come to yoga with nothing other then a clear mind, and from there, the growth will happen naturally.
In the 10 years that I have done yoga, I had not realized this until 9 years in.... and in the past year, I have grown more then I have in my entire life.
No one can determine how you grow… But I know that I look at everyday as a new opportunity, I appreciate the simplicity that nature has to offer, and I enjoy every second with love & happiness. The connection that I have made to letting go, has made me closer to myself, and in turn, closer to others.
I am no longer dependent on being in control, because how would my journey be unique if it was so?
So remember top step outside of your comfort zone, and just let things happen.
Yoga is not just a workout, it is a way of life.
