The Evolution Of Barbie
Barbie

As of the early new year, Barbie has taken a big step into the evolution of diversity and beauty. Since 1959, Barbie has been a part of girls all throughout the world and has had the same look over the years. Barbie always had the stereotypical idea and look that girls wanted to mimic. A Barbie had many different kinds of outfits and played many different career roles but her body and features were always the same blonde hair, white skin, blue eyes and six inch waist. First of all, not all girls have blonde hair and blue eyes. A six inch waist is simply not the healthiest or most appealing look for all women. Some women are more on the curvy side, or are petite. Of course there are girls that are not blonde with all sorts of hair colors. Then there are different skin colors but girls seem to have all have the same quality, natural beauty.

Girls no matter what shape, size or color are beautiful. They also are very different. A barbie doll growing up was something all girls wanted to play with and the imagination of a little girl is much more creative and open to anything. A Barbie doll for the last 57 years has been narrowing the imaginations of little girls simply by creating a doll that had the same features every single time for one type of girl. Not all girls would be able to relate or imagine themselves as a Barbie if they only had a six inch waist, blonde hair blue eyes and white skin.

Today, as of 2016, Barbie has taken a huge step. They have created dolls of all shapes, sizes, skin colors and added more personality to their dolls. Barbies that come in 4 body types, 7 skin tones, 22 eye colors, 24 hairstyles and countless trends of fashion and accessories is for sure something that is more appealing to girls and women that are growing up or have grown up playing with Barbie dolls.

Barbie can only benefit from this and it is only the beginning of this new transition. When little girls look for a Barbie doll, they will be able to look for a doll that can relate to how they see themselves or someone that they want to play with. Their imagination is endless now because Barbie is not limiting them to just one particular look. Barbie is one of the many corporations that promotes beauty and influences girls today on how they see themselves or how they want to develop within their lives. It is an amazing thing because the sky is the limit.

Parents do not have to feel funny that their daughter is going to wish they looked a certain way. Girls are beautiful no matter what skin color they have, hair color, and body type they have. Barbie has created diversity and now girls today are able to believe in themselves just a little more that they are truly beautiful just the way they are. The evolution of Barbie is just touching the surface of the evolution of diversity and self-worth. There are so many things that can frame a girls mind into believing they need to look a certain way. A doll for a little girl is one of the many things she will always look to play with and for the proper self-confidence, she will gain this quality growing up just because of a toy. The littlest things can influence a child and growing up with more self-confidence within themselves will help them in the long run in many situations. Barbie may be a doll but it is something that has appeared in the toy chest all around the world for almost six decades and will continue to be apart of little girls lives, but now with more of a positive message to their self-image.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
