- Everything is wonderful!
- No Talks have started so it is hard not to talk to non-Greek women, but it’s going to be fine.
- One of your non-Greek friends tries to hug you and you have to cower away in sadness because you cannot hug her back.
- Queue a million questions about what needs to be done this week
Tuesday
- What? It is only Tuesday, are you sure?
- No Talks gets easier, you simply eat all your meals with sisters, only text your sisters, and only interact on Facebook with your sisters.
- All sisterhood, all the time.
- Homework? There isn’t any recruitment stuff happening today so you should be able to get things done.
- Psyche, you are going to sleep in order to prepare for recruitment.

Wednesday
- CRAFT DAY.
- LET’S DO ALL THE CRAFTING
- “What am I supposed to do?” and “Do you think she will mind if I do this instead?” are both valid questions during crafting day. Just remember that your Recruitment Chair has likely spent a lot of time making your instruction sheets but above all she wants your creativity to shine. Don’t be afraid to do a project in a slightly different way.
- Please don’t get glitter on the chapter room carpet…keep it down in the basement with the big crafts.
- “How did the glitter make it to my fluffy socks that were in a drawer upstairs?” These are the real questions of life.
- You are tired and that is okay, just try to get things done and get some sleep tonight!
Thursday
- Cleaning Day
- Clean up from craft day…especially any of that glitter
- Make sure you buy name-brand magic erasers because the off-brand ones get killed very quickly.
- Remember Swiffer also makes dusters! Don’t try to use the actual Swiffer to dust…even if that’s how it seems the instructions are written. Use the dusters!
- It’s okay to double vacuum the carpets, sisters are coming in and out all day so they will track in dirt as well!
- Wash your hands after using so many Clorox wipes…they don’t taste good with food. I promise.
Friday
- Decorating Day
- Streamers, so many streamers.
- You may return to your room after class to see an abundance of streamers hanging at the entrance of your door…just hold your breath and brave your way through them. (Pro tip: You can duct tape them to the sides like a curtain later!)
- Only have a few sisters doing the bulk of decorations at a time, otherwise things may get overwhelming.
- If you live in the house, take some time for yourself. Don’t sit in your room and think you will get work done because people will be going in and out for hours. Maybe take a trip off campus for a few hours.
- Time for practice Teas (the first round of recruitment)
- If you sit in a room and talk, learn what you’re going to say and think of fun personal stories to tell
- If you are a walker for the women who will come through, think of fun questions to ask them! You want to get to know these girls as much as you can.
- So practice got done in about 1.5 hours, so now you need to find food.
- Go eat a salad at 6:30 p.m.
- Then order pizza at 8:30 p.m.
- Crash by 11:00 .m. Remember: you will need to be up early so keep water by your bed to help wake you up at 6:00 a.m.!
Saturday
- Teas!
- Today all the women going through recruitment will come by the house so you will meet and talk with them all. It is going to be amazing I promise.
- Set your alarm for 6am. Then snooze it until 6:30 when you hear people starting to show up to the house.
- Get up and look in the mirror to realize that you really do need to wake up some more. Drink that water. Maybe eat some chocolate, for the caffeine of course.
- Eyeliner is amazing if you want to make your eyes too alive, awake, and enthusiastic. (Follow with the song our Educations majors sang for that…)
- Drink some coffee, it will help you wake up but don’t rely on it to keep you going all day.
- Sing some songs with your sisters, maybe cuddle them on the couch. This time before Teas starts is about you and your sisters.
- Here come the women, start singing as they enter the house, it’ll be fun and likely make them smile.
- Okay so now they will tour your house
- Walkers, introduce yourselves and get to know your buddy!
- Speakers, drink some water, maybe have a mint, and get ready to give them information on your sorority!
- Remember, conversation will be what they remember most, so make your time with them memorable!
- After 30 minutes they will have to leave and you will need to prepare for the next round.
- Repeat this process 3 more times.
- Lunch! Eat Jimmy Johns, drink some Coca-Cola, and enjoy a bit of quiet time with your sisters.
- Maybe snap a photo or two when your Recruitment Chair falls asleep, in a strange position, on the couch. She will still love you when she wakes up, don’t worry!
- Now it’s time for 4 more rounds!
- Keep your cheeks smillin’!
- Maybe have another mint to keep your breath fresh and your brain alert
- Keep the energy up by singing fun chapter songs while you wait
- Okay…the final round has ended…the final woman has walked out of your house… Rejoice! You just met some amazing women and hopefully you were able to make a good impression on them!
- Marvel at the fact that you talked to 68 women today. This is exactly why your throat hurts, be sure to drink some tea tonight before bed.
- Eat all the left over pigs-in-a-blanket! Not that you have been munching on them all day or anything…
- Clean up all the decorations, I promise the ladies of the house do not want to live with streamers in the room for the next week.
- Once everything has settled and only the Housies are left (honorary or otherwise) use your 5-pound bag of spaghetti noodles and 2-pound jar of pasta sauce to make a meal for Housie Pasta Night! Though you should probably only use 2 pounds of pasta, I promise you will still have left over noodles.
- Everyone has their glorious bowl of food with a nice helping of cheese on top, turn on Netflix in the Chapter Room!
- Obviously choose "Legally Blonde."
- But don’t try to make it a double feature because the second one is very strange…
- Add ice cream to the mix because Treat Yourself!
- Be in bed before midnight, your body will thank you.
- Enjoy the fact that you were able to meet so many women today, just think of what the next few rounds hold for you and your chapter!
Happy Recruitment! Look for Part 2 next week!
