And it's not the one that rhymes with truck...

The Controversial "F Word"

Recently I happened upon an article titled, "I Am A Female And I Am So Aver Feminists." Now, I'm a firm believer in the fact that everyone can formulate their own opinion, however when I read the sub headline I had a change of heart. This headline read, "I believe that I am a strong woman, but I also believe in a strong man." And as I came across these words I didn't even know what to think.

Feminism, by definition, is the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes. Feminism is not just a movement for a woman to surpass the man, it is so women will have the same opportunities as men and function as equal counterparts in society.

For those of you who are thinking that I'm about to go all feminazi on you, relax, I'm only tying to say that there is no need to fear the word feminism! We should be educating ourselves as to what we should be teaching our children; to respect both genders equally.

Don't get me wrong, women have made excellent strides towards achieving equality in past years however, there are still things that need to be improved. The fact is that a woman does not make the same amount of money that a man does even if they're doing the same exact job is simply not okay. There's a thing called the glass ceiling and we are still trying to break the barriers that exist because of it. To say that women are basically on an equal playing field as men is far from reality. Organizations such as HeForShe exist which is a platform for men to show their support for women in the journey to achieve gender equality. This is not a platform for women to put down men and surpass them as the superior gender; it is a place for both of the sexes to raise each other up instead of tearing each other down.

So let's do just that. Stop being afraid of feminism. Embrace the word and maybe some day we can achieve gender equality.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
