There is a worldwide epidemic and nobody seems to be doing anything about it.
This rapidly spreading disease is called cheating— and it’s not the type of cheating referred to in schools, although that could arguably be just as bad.
Regardless, it’s safe to assume any type of cheating is dishonorable. Cheating in a relationship however, is utterly sickening.
In fact, cheating seems to be highly infectious. Though it could easily be cured with a simple dose of morals, relationships continue to perish due to the disease.
No one knows exactly when or where the illness came about, but there are multiple theories as to why it is so contagious. Perhaps some are born with a genetic predisposition, thus prompting a primal urge for multiple partners. Cheating could also be caused by a screaming devil called the “Id”, who often taunts us with the tempting desire to live in the moment. We can blame biology or psychology, but maybe it’s just in the water.
To ward off such germs, it’s essential to be aware of the symptoms. If you have unwanted, persistent thoughts of another human being while in a monogamous relationship, seek medical attention immediately. Also, it is imperative that you refrain from sexual contact with anyone besides your significant other. Keep in mind that warning signs can arise unexpectedly or gradually and can happen almost anywhere.
Unfortunately, the person with the disease isn't usually the one who suffers most. The ironic part of the illness is that the healthy person has the hardest time healing. Once the germs have infiltrated through the infected body, the effects can be detrimental. Only after the cheating occurs does the healthy person begin to develop a weaker immunity. Side effects can be, (but are not limited to): heartbreak, numbness, excessive anger or frustration, bitterness, anguish, hopelessness, sadness, heartache, fatigue, and denial. As of right now, time is the only medication.
To prevent the spread of cheating, talk to your loved ones and gently remind them of the horrible conditions. Remember the importance of integrity and morality, because cheating can be deadly.
