College ladies (and men!) across the country, it's time to turn off Gossip Girl and start tuning into The Bold Type. The show is absolutely perfect for our generation as we embark on the journey of finding ourselves and our future careers—and doesn't the Serena and Blair drama get a little old after a while? If you're looking for a refreshing show to binge-watch this summer, The Bold Type is definitely for you and here's why.

It’s totally about female empowerment.

The show follows three best friends as they start their careers in the magazine industry—one being a writer, the other a social media strategist, and the other following her dreams in the fashion industry. All of them are just starting out in their careers, and it's the perfect show for all college girls to watch.

The three girls lift each other up and encourage them to follow their dreams—which is SO MUCH different than Gossip Girl where Serena and Blair are constantly putting down one another. (Plus, after watching this show, you'll totally want to find your own Jane, Sutton, and Kat instead of the Serena to your Blair!)

Not only that, but the show also features the women making huge waves in their industries even when the odds are stacked against them—evincing the idea that you can do anything you set your mind to.

It goes against the stereotypical mean-boss tropes consistently seen on television.

Ever see a TV show where the boss absolutely just has no heart and does not care about the workers at all? I know I've seen too many! The female boss (yes, ANOTHER example of female empowerment!) is the perfect #GIRLBOSS for us all to look up to. She cares about everyone that works for her company and it's definitely refreshing to see that on television.

It emphasizes positive representation of different races, religions and the LGBT community.

Giphy

The cast of this show is truly so diverse and when have you ever seen a Muslim lesbian on television before?! Not only that, but this show follows Kat as she learns to embrace her sexuality and who she is—something that is so huge for our generation today. (Also, I can guarantee Kadena will become your favorite couple on this show!)

4. It’s not afraid to confront both taboo and serious issues in our society today.

Giphy

As the vast majority of the characters in this show work for a magazine similar to Cosmopolitan, the characters are able to touch on serious issues through magazines, photo shoots, and more.

Between evincing the (typically considered taboo) topic of a women's sex life in a positive way, shining light on the effects of online harassment, spreading awareness of the meaning behind the hijab and how some Americans view it in a negative light, and many more, The Bold Type is talking about issues other shows simply aren't talking about.

If you're looking for a refreshing, new show to binge-watch this summer, The Bold Type certainly is the show for you! The first season is up on Hulu, OnDemand, and Freeform.com and the second season starts on Tuesday, June 12th, 2018 at 8 P.M. with a two-hour season premiere.

So, grab your best friends, some champagne, and get ready for the show of the summer!

There is not a consistent standard for health education in the United States. There are a lot of variables that go into this — what state a student lives in, whether they go to a public or private school, and the district's funding and priorities. These variables can be argued for any subject, not just health class. But as we continue to grow as a society, hopefully bettering our education system along the way, it's crucial to consider this often-forgotten element of a child's schooling.

In March, the whole country shut down. School was online, extra-curriculars were canceled, and I found myself laying in bed all day every day. One day, as I was laying in bed contemplating my laziness, I decided that I wanted to do something to make myself more healthy. I was feeling so down on myself and my laziness so I decided to make a change.

The Neighbourhood, Bad Suns and The Driver Era are three Los Angeles bands that released songs this month. Not only was it a month for Los Angeles bands, but many Australian bands released new music — San Cisco's fourth studio album, Surf Trash single, Skegss single, and High Tropics single. I made new discoveries this month and was pleased by the amount of new music.

Read the listicle below to learn what came out this month in alternative rock music:

Staying Active While You're Stuck Inside IS Possible, It Just Takes Some Small Steps

I know the last thing you want to think about right now is exercising, but it's time to put down the controller and put on your workout clothes.

As someone who has also been living on a bed since March, I can guarantee you that working out has been the last thing on my priority list. It's pretty far down there, along with my motivation and brain cells I used to use for work. However, I have made an effort in the past couple of weeks to move up exercising to at least number three on my priorities list.

I Got Clean At A Very Young Age, And It Honestly Saved My Life

Going into rehab when I was 19 was hands down the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life. My addiction started when I was around 17 and spiraled and spiraled out of control, as addictions always do. However, looking back, I'm so lucky my addiction started and ended when it did.

7 Things Your Partner Can Do To Support You When You Have PCOS

Don't be afraid to ask for help or comfort if you need it.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) may not be totally visible to the eye, which makes it a lot harder for your partner to understand what's going on with your body.

If you are in a relationship, it's important that you communicate your PCOS symptoms with your partner. I say "your" symptoms specifically because everyone's symptoms are different.

One Indictment, Three Charges, And No Justice For Breonna Taylor

We can't settle for this decision or a system that is fundamentally broken and unequal.
