What a way to start vacation.

The Best Spring Break Ever!
Thalia Martinez

Spring break started and everything went crazy. My 19th birthday was on Saturday, March 3rd. It was a fun time. My dad threw me a party and a lot of my friends came. It made me happy seeing my friends from different places talking and hanging out.

I had a really good birthday man. Not going to lie, I was definitely under the influence but I was home and my dad was watching me. I just remember some dancing, a lot of weed, cake and a lot of laughing. I did a drop-off, got some Taco Bell, dropped everyone else off after we were sober enough to drive and I came home with my friend Ash. My best friend Salma came to see me really quick and wish me a happy birthday. That was nice of her. When she left Ash and I fell asleep and the next day I had a bad headache.

I had to clean up the party. And that took a LONG time. Honestly, I either wanted to get out of the house or lay in bed all day and since I already had to get up to clean, might as well leave for the day. I ran some errands with Ash and picked up my boyfriend Tyler.

We bought some hair dye and made my hair crispy yellow. It was kinda bad but I colored it purple and green the next day. Still not the best but definitely better than bleachy blonde. I had to take Tyler to work so we went to his house so he could get dressed and then took him to work. After that I smoked a bowl with Ash and took him home. I went home and watched a movie and then smoked a little more and that was fun.

I haven’t really been doing much the past few days after the party. I was sleepy and I didn’t feel good yesterday. And I don’t have much planned for the end of spring break. Maybe I can have Ash sleep over and I’m probably gonna sleep over at Tyler’s but other than that I’m just going to chill the rest of this vacation and work on my repertoire pieces for my piano final. I’m actually kind of just ready to get back to school to be honest. I am so ready to focus on everything and get shit done. The determination is real. I hope you all have a great rest of break! Much love from Ry. ❤️

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
