When it comes to the life of a college student, final exam week is the week that determines your fate of the semester. It’s where you found out if you have what it takes to carry the workload of a semester in one week. You might bend until you break but we all have to go through this week together. We can admit though, that when that last final is done you have nothing but an overwhelming feeling of relief come over you. The weight of schoolwork is lifted from your shoulders and you can continue your life. With that being said, here’s what comes with the beauty of winter break.

Once your final exam is turned in you can be whatever you want to be. You can do whatever you want to do. Why? Because it’s winter break. That’s why. Nothing will stand in your way. The only thing you really are obligated to do is get home for winter break. Other than that you have nothing else to fear. You can sit around and be consumed by your couch, you can get your life on track and detox all that “college” out of your body, or you could just continue your college life shenanigans back home. You know why? Because its winter break. Yeah I said that already, but whatever it’s true. You have the world in the palm of your hands on winter break. Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza or whatever you celebrate is right around the corner and you are probably going to celebrate responsibly with your friends and families. Maybe you wont. Either way it doesn’t matter because you’re on break. We just give each other gifts in the spirit of this time of the year which is awesome and the Michael Bublé Christmas album is on repeat. Like come on. This year will probably be a lot more special of a winter break because we know that the weirdest year in history, 2016, is coming to an end finally. We have a lot to look back on as the year draws to a close like Harambe or that Presidential election we shouldn’t talk about but will. Also we’re not talking about that really short break that you get for Thanksgiving. That’s not really a break. It’s more like an extra long weekend. If anything it’s just like how the first week of the fall 2016 semester was when the havoc of hurricane Hermine hit FSU. Except Thanksgiving break had air conditioning and food. Winter break is that long three week break that makes you forget that you even have to go to school. It’s cold weather and good times with friends. Ugly sweater parties are trending this time of the year. If you don’t have one coming up in your friend group. Take some initiative and set one up. Your friends will thank you in the long run. They’ll be like “Wow, Kevin, talk about a sweater party!”. You’ll be the coolest kid on the cul-de-sac.

So after the holidays you have New Year’s Eve, which is where the world comes together for one night and hits the reset button. We get a new start. Come on, new year new me. Am I right? Yeah sure. For a couple of weeks but you’ll probably go back to the same old you. Not that there’s anything wrong with the old you. We like the old you. The new you was a pretty cool person, but come on we became friends with the old you.

So when it comes to exam week this week. Just remember you have so much to look forward to with our dear old friend who saves us from the clutches of school and responsibility once a year, winter break.
