Portland is increasingly winning first place in foodie lists everywhere. Delicious restaurants continue to pop up on every corner, and offer everything from Asian cuisine to seafood to pizza. But, what is a gluten-free foodie to do? Luckily, many Portland restaurants offer gluten-free alternatives and label their menus for easy dining-out. Here is a go-to list of some of the best gluten-free eats in Portland, Maine.

1. Boda

The menu is clearly labeled with gluten-free and vegetarian items, and they can make special accommodations, such as substituting gluten-free soy sauce in dishes. If you go after 9 p.m. on Sundays, there is a half-off menu, but make sure to get there right at 9, as the line goes out the door.

2. Green Elephant

While this is an entirely vegetarian and vegan bistro, they are accommodating to gluten and dairy-free, as well, and label everything on the menu, including possible substitutions in other dishes. The cuisine is Asian-fusion and features many delicious items.

3. Empire Chinese Kitchen

While it is hard to find gluten-free Chinese food, it is possible here. There is everything from gluten-free dumplings to rice noodles.
