I have always been fortunate and blessed to walk out of my front door growing up, and immediately see the breathtaking mountains that line the blue sky. When I was young, I used to look at the mountains with so much wonder. As I lived in Colorado for the rest of my growing up, I took the beautiful view for granted and most of my curiosity and longing to explore disappeared.
Hiking and camping were always exciting to me, but now that I have two homes, I look at the beautiful Rocky Mountains and feel in awe. I do not get to spend everyday in Colorado since I am going to college out of state, yet I've never appreciated this state more than I do now. The sights are truly captivating, and God spent a little extra time creating the pieces of history and beauty.
Some may come here with layers of clothes on expecting the worst, but we all know that the coat you are wearing in the morning will not be needed in a couple of hours when the temperature raises tremendously. Colorado is very unpredictable, and the same goes with the sights to see in the many national parks and all around the state in general. You could be so lucky as to witness a bear in your front yard eating your trash, or elk living it up in the mountains. And never be surprised if traffic has stopped because a family of deer are running by on the middle of the interstate. There are so many different kinds of birds and trees, nature will become your best friend in a matter of minutes. You will long for the mountains when you are away just because they are that intriguing.
Every time that I come back home to Colorado, I am suddenly able to breath both better and worse. There is not much oxygen because of the elevation, yet the fresh air feels so good. The wind blows through the trees as leaves fall peacefully on the ground.
Colorado is the most beautiful state, and I know many agree with me on that. Each peak is completely different and the possibilities are endless. I am proud to be from such a unique and beautiful place, and I will always recommend my home to anybody who just needs to get away.
Tip: Pack for every season if you do visit, because you will experience all of them in one day.
