The Alpha Girl: 4 Reasons Why City Girls Are The Ultimate Catch

It takes a special kind of girl to march to the beat of her own drum. One who can withstand every obstacle thrown at her way, one who won’t take no for an answer.

As a bona fide city girl I know what it’s like to always get that “look” when you say enthusiastically “ I’m from the city!”

Guys think we're troublemakers and girls think we're prima donnas, but yet they can’t seem to get enough of us.

In reality we’re hands down the best type of girl. There is a reason we’re the most talked about and idolized. Please tell me what hit show hasn’t included some badass city girl.

Like we need any validation as to why we are the goddesses you see roaming the city streets, but to be fair, these are four main reasons why city girls are more than just red lips, white wine, and shopping addicts.

1.We know what we want and we always GET it.

Everyone knows that if you want to make your mark on the world you start in the big city.

Its not an easy journey to get to the top in the one of the most competitive environments, everyone will try to bring you down.

Especially for women, we have to work ten times harder to achieve our dreams. It’s easy to get discouraged but that’s not the nature of city girls. We will march into any place and make sure our presence is known, first with our shoes and than our charisma.

Even when it comes to dating, we have you eating out of the palm of our hands. Settling is never in our agenda, personally I don’t believe in perfection and I’m not some stuck up girl with a mentality of just wanting some prince charming to awkwardly stare me down in a coffee shop, no. Like the fabulous icon herself Carrie Bradshaw once said “'I’m looking for love. Real love. Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can’t-live-without-each-other love” and just like a real city girl we wont settle for an Aidan because our Mr. Big is somewhere out there.

2. We are open-minded.

Whichever city you may be from, we can all agree that every city is its own melting pot. You are immersed in different cultures from all around the world.

In a perfect world we would think that everyone would accept others for who they are but sometimes even in the city that isn’t even the case. There will always be ignorant and closed minded people.

Not only do you accept people for who they are but will try your best to understand their way of life.

You see life from every point of view, and because of that you never once think you’re better than anyone else.

3. We know how to enjoy the finer things in life but it isn’t everything.

City girls are notoriously known as being “princesses”. It is said that we are only interested in shopping and Sunday brunches but who says you cant enjoy a mimosa and still be down to earth.

When you are surrounded by superficial people (which in the city is a epidemic) it really makes you take a step back and look at yourself because at the end of the day we know that “stuff” will not make you happy because trust me, we’ve tried.

4. We enjoy life to the fullest.

Living in a world where everything is so fast paced, sometimes you begin to loose sight of what’s right in front of you, one of the best things about living in the city is that you could be crossing a busy intersection and take a moment to stop and take in that you are lucky enough to be in a place where you can be yourself whole heartedly and no one can stop you.

I couldn’t think of any of other person that holds these standards higher than a city girl. We are forces not to be reckoned with, next time you see us out doing city girl things and you’re thinking that we’re a handful, look deeper because we’re more of a blessing.

From one city girl to another, keep being fabulous!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
