The 7 Steps Of Binge Watching

Something that I have become very good at during my four years of college is binge watching. Between classes and on the weekends, I had to find something to do, and Netflix has always been there. Through all of my trials and tribulations, I have found that there are certain subconscious steps that I follow every time that I start a new show.

1. Get over the depression of the show that just ended.

There's a certain feeling that overwhelms those who finish a show on Netflix. You know what I'm talking about; it's that, "What am I going to do now?" and the "Did I really just watch six seasons in three weeks?" feeling. It will be okay, and you'll get through it.

2. Scroll through the "Suggested for You" and realize that nothing will match up to the show you just finished.

I've been there many, many times. Scrolling through the suggestions and not finding anything, and then you go through the specific genres and end up not finding anything there either. It starts to become disheartening.

3. Adding shows to your list.

There is always going to be that one show or movie that you want to watch but just not right now. Your list fills up, and you still have nothing that you want to watch right now.

4. Finally settling on something.

After 25 minutes of shifting through the hundreds of shows, you finally decide on something to watch. As soon as you hit the play button and nestle under the covers or on that perfect spot of your couch, you start to get excited.

5. You either love the show or you despise it.

This is the stage where there is no in-between. The first episode of your new show is vital. This is where you decide if you really want to invest every second of your free time in this show or repeat steps two through four.

6. You get fully invested.

Class? What is class? At this point, your show is all you talk about with your friends (when you aren't watching it: which is never.).

7. It ends.

An amount of time later, your show is over. You've been to hell and back with this show. You are this show. What are you supposed to do now?

Trust me, I've been here many times. There will always be another show. It might not measure up to the past ones, but it will be amazing.

Binge on, my friends.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
