Mom,
I know we have had some really tough times the last 20 (almost 21) years I have been on this planet, but to be honest with you, I don't think anyone else could have ever done what you have done for me my entire life. I may not say it all the time, but thank you.
"Thank you" may only be an eight letter phrase, but it means so much when you say it, and I truly mean it. I am so thankful to have you as a mom. There are not many people on this planet that are like you. You are one of the strongest people I know. You are the bravest and most loving person. You are devoted to your children, grandchildren, and, of course, to the rest of the family! You have the biggest heart, and sometimes you make choices and/or sacrifices for others that no one will understand. I know that sometimes, I don't understand the things you do. Maybe one day, when I am a mom, I will see it from your side of the spectrum.
I know I miss the days when we would stop at Wawa and grab breakfast and coffee before you dropped me off at school, or when I would have to hand you makeup in the car. Those were the little things we did together, but those memories stick forever. Also, when you would have to brush my hair every single day, and braid it until it was absolutely perfect, and I looked like a doll. My hair line is still perfect from you partying it so much. I also can remember the days when you would sit at the table with me and make sure my math homework was perfect and in the lines correctly. The days when I would cry because I thought I would never see you again after you dropped me off at preschool for sure took a toll on both of our hearts.
These little things that we did together were just the small lessons of life you have taught me, that you just made daily routines. Writing in between the lines for math homework may have not been the biggest deal as a second grader, but when it comes to being organized and on top of my school work as a college student, being in between the lines is a lot more important than people would think. I know there are so many more things that you have taught me and that you teach me now even when I am away at school, but I appreciate everything. You always had a way of being so slick and smart with how you went about things. My brother and sister always talk about how you would always catch them in things that they thought you didn't know about. Mom, you know everything, and it's pretty awesome to know someone who knows me better than I know myself.
Growing up with having you as a role model has been nothing but a blessing. Sometimes perhaps I acted like I didn't care or notice all the things you do. But today and every day, I appreciate you, and I am sorry for being annoying sometimes and not always listening to you. I hope to one day be as strong of a woman and as great of a mom as you. You are one of the best people out there, and I am so lucky to have you. You have given me more than I sometimes noticed. Thank you for being the person you are and taking care of me my entire life. I love you so much. Thank you for making me laugh, for making me cry, teaching me life lessons, and supporting me in everything I do. I hope to make you proud! I know I am proud to call you my mom.
Love,
Your Daughter
