Being the youngest of three, people always say you learn from your siblings and have big shoes to fill. Others complain and say "Because you're the baby, you get away with everything." While some of that is true, it is also important to be mindful of the role of older siblings and how to actually thank them. So, here it goes:
Thank you for being my role model and always demonstrating right from wrong. Thank you for being the one who is the guinea pig for Mom and Dad so they know what to do (or not to do) with me. Thank you for having my back and being patient with your little sister who is always around you and your friends. Growing up as the youngest of three girls it is quite different for me than my sisters. I somehow got away with more or always had a teacher say "Wow, your sister was an amazing student in my class." Sometimes, it certainly was not always enjoyable having those shoes to fill but was more of an exciting challenge which pushed me to be who I am today. Siblings are one of the greatest gifts in life and I could not imagine going through the happy or sad things without them. They are my 2AM call when everything feels like it is falling apart or my afternoon FaceTime to tell them I passed an exam I was nervous for. Having these constant people to look up to changed my life for the better. Even when we argue I thank you for those times too. Thank you for the patience when I can be annoying and pick the littlest of fights just to see you get angry (from my view, it is funny).
Moral of the story is--if you are one of two children or ten your siblings are the rock of your family and it is important just to hug them a little tighter and let them know you appreciate them a little more often.
