We made it, but I'll miss you.

A Thank You Letter to My Roommates
Becca Sherman

To my roommates on move out day,

We made it guys. We lasted all year without killing each other. I know we had some close calls, but we made it. It's been a pleasure living with you for the past seven months. College wouldn't be the same without you. We still have more years to go, but our days living in the same room are done. We're moving on to live with different people in different places, but you'll always have a place in my heart. It's been a wild ride in our little room with all of us crammed in. Even though I might not be the easiest to live with sometimes, I'm grateful that I lived with you instead of a random.

Because you're awesome and I probably haven't thanked you enough, here are some things I really need to thank you for.

1. Allowing me to live with you

2. Letting me into your life

3. Making sure I get out of bed in the morning

4. Taking care of me when I'm sick

5. Forcing me to do my homework

6. Walking me to class when I beg you to

7. Making sure I eat regularly

8. Taking tons of unnecessary trips to get food

9. Listening to me geek out

10. Avoiding homework with me when it's too much

11. Listening to me complain

12. Helping me with papers/projects

13. Being my best friend through it all

14. Helping me avoid people I don't like

15. Hating the same people I do

16. Understanding me more than anyone

17. Supporting me like a parent would

18. Bringing fun into my life

19. Dealing me with I'm angry, tired, hunger, etc.

20. Going on adventures with me

21. Knowing I mean well when I start yelling

22. Helping me pick out outfits

23. Telling me when I'm being stupid

24. Helping me destress

25. Living with my messiness

26. Being my shoulder to cry on

27. Helping me figure my life out

28. Leaving me alone when I need to be

29. Making the year memorable

30. Making my college experience the best it could be

More than anything I want you to know that I might have complained and not shown how much I appreciated you during the year. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate you. I love you and you mean a lot to me. I wouldn't have survived the year without you. You've done so much for me and I hope that I have returned the favor. If not, we still have a few years ahead of us. I want you to feel the way you have made me feel and know that I will take our memories together with me for the rest of my life.

After my parents and professors, you're the biggest contribution to my college education. I'm glad you're part of it and that I had someone to come home to every night that would make me smile. There's no one else I would have wanted to live with.

Thank you,

Your roommate

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
