Dear Rob,

When we saw your post on Facebook and learned that you would not be returning to Lasell with us in the fall, we were saddened not just as students and friends, but as an entire school and community. During our brief time spent with you on Saturday and Sunday nights, you impacted our lives in a way that no other person on our campus could: you were that fun-loving, carefree and laid-back spirit touched all of us. You took the time to learn about us, our families, friends, struggles and triumphs, and in doing so became an integral part of our community.

Thank you for doing your job and doing it well. You got us from point A to point B safely, and also made each ride a memorable experience.

Thank you for bring us back and forth across campus to and from parties at all hours of the night, and even picking us up in the middle of the street when we flagged you down.

Thank you for entertaining us, blasting music and flashing the lights to make it seem as if we were riding on a party bus in the middle of campus.

Thank you for tolerating our loud chatter and alcohol-impaired behavior, and patiently waiting for us to make up our minds about where we wanted to go.

Thank you for going above and beyond your job description.

Thank you for always greeting us as if we were the best of friends (even if you didn’t know us well or at all.) Your smile and personality were always appreciated and made us feel welcome to come aboard.

Thank you for being our confidant, someone we could go and talk to, and trust with our secrets and problems. You were basically our un-official therapist, allowing us to freely vent our emotions and problems and offering us advice and a different perspective on our issues. Whether it was school-related, friend-related or family-related you did your best to listen to us and help.

Thank you for being a very special part of the Lasell community—our home away from home. You were not just a staff member to us, you were a friend and a part of our “family” away at school. Thank you for being present around campus, whether it was playing football in the quad, eating in the dining hall with us, guest calling at bingo or watching any sports games that were happening while you were on shift.

You embody Lasell, a caring community looking to serve not just ourselves but others. You touched every single one of us, whether you were there for all four years of our college experience or just one or two years.

Thank you, Rob.

It saddens us to learn that you will not be returning with us in the fall, but everything happens for a reason. We are fortunate to have had you in our lives, but the future is never clear, and time will tell, who knows?

Lasell will definitely not be the same without you, but we wish you the best of luck in whatever you do. Please stay in touch, and do come visit whenever you can. You will always be a part of the community here, a part of the family.

Thank you for everything, Rob, you went above and beyond for us.

Love,

Your Family at Lasell College

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
