I am graduating college this week. And the reason I am still standing is a number of naps I took and my family. I realized over the years I only thank and show appreciation to my parents on either a birthday, mothers day or fathers days. I always know at the end of the day they are there, which means the world to me. With the remaining time I have left at college I wanted to thank my parents for everything they have done for me over the past four years with all the changes in both my life and their lives.
Thank you; Mom and Dad. You supported my change in career path; you are always in the audience watching the work I have done and always tell me how great it is but also give me the constructive criticism I need to improve. You both go the Olive Garden when you see my shows (even though its not real Italian food in your opinion). When I have a bad rehearsal or deal with an annoying person, you are the first to listen on the phone and try to help me through the situation so I do not go crazy the rest of the week. Thank you for coming and watching shows that you know do not make any sense and then laughing with me about it later.
Thank you, Mom. You do everything you can not just for me but all of your kids. You work two jobs, tire yourself day in and day out and still have time to be a full-time mom to three full grown boys. Thank you for being there and helping me through my anxiety and depression, just talking to me on the phone and telling me its going to be okay. For the night you drove 2 hours to my campus and sat with me until 1 am as I just sobbed about my mistakes and helped instead of shunned me. Thank you for the shenanigans you place in my head, even if it could affect my grade or status in my higher education program. It always gets a good laugh and even has a positive affect.
Thank you, Dad. For talking sports with me, giving just those few moments to bash or praise a player or team for some kind of move or rumor that is always flying around Philadelphia sports. Thank you for teaching me how to decorate the house at Christmas, letting me go on the roof, changing what you do with LED icicles. Thank you for passing on something I hope to pass eventually on to my future son or daughter. For the times late at night where I ask you to make me a sandwich and you come back with a sarcastic comment. Thank you for dealing with a picky eater and attempting to find something for me to eat for the past twenty-two years.
Thank you both for helping me through my tough time back in 2013 and never giving up on me to get better. For dealing with an over-sensitive child growing up and doing everything in your power to make it better for me, even in the smallest way possible, it never went unnoticed. Even though I don't exceed in the classroom, you know my potential and drive. I may not be a 4.0 student, but you never let that hold me back.
Thank you for always believing in me, supporting my decisions, teaching me, and loving me for the past twenty-two years. I hope down the road I make you proud of the person I have become.
