A Thank You To My High School Youth Group

Thank you for the friendships, the memories, the laughter, and a faith base that will last a lifetime.

A Thank You To My High School Youth Group
Marilyn Schneider

High school is a pivotal time for every teenager. This is the age where you start to find yourself and can start becoming more independent in your thoughts and actions. In high school you learn more about the world and begin to form your own opinions about life. This is why the people and groups you surround yourself with are so valuable. A high school student is part of many different things: teams, clubs, friendships, and family. All of these things come together to form one's personality. I was lucky enough to not only surround myself with dedicated coaches, supportive friends, and a loving family but also to be part of a truly inspirational youth group. This youth group played a large role in making me into the person I am today and I am forever grateful for that.

Thank you, youth group for building in me a strong faith to take with me for the rest of my life. Without youth group my faith would never have been as strong as it is now. The opportunities I was given because of this group are experiences I will never forget. The retreats and service opportunities are life long memories that will always hold a special place in my heart. Words cannot express how thankful I am for these moments. It is because of youth group that I have gone into college with a love for serving others and a passion to continue living a faith filled life. It is in college that some lose their love for their faith, but with the base that was instilled in me through youth group, this is something that will never be lost.

Thank you, youth group for being there for me through the hardest times in my life. Let's be honest, high school is not easy. There is class, sports, work, drama, relationships, etc. All of these things come together to create a pretty stressed out teenager. However, because of youth group I was always able to find an escape. I was able to forget about the drama, the homework, or how bad practice was that day for a few hours and spend it with people who I knew supported me no matter what. For this I am forever grateful.

Thank you, youth group for introducing me to truly inspiring people. From the other high schoolers involved to the adults who sacrificed their time to spend it with troublesome teenagers, the people I met through youth group are people I will never forget. Four years later, it is still these friends that I go to when I have a problem or life just has me down. I can confidently say that the friends made through youth group are the ones I will always have by my side. I truly think that it is because these friendships are built on the foundation of faith through youth group that these friendships are so strong. A special thank you to my youth minister and the other adults involved who to this day are some of the biggest role models in my life.

It is because of youth group that I am the faith filled, outgoing, loving person I am today and I am forever grateful for this. Words will never be able to express the amount of gratitude I have for this group. So again I say, thank you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
