Texas A&M University, though the institution has been deemed overwhelmingly conservative in a fair amount of prestigious polls, is home to many extremes. It hosts majors from Aerospace Engineering to Entomology (look it up), to sports like Pickleball, to student organizations such as Aggie Investment Club and Texas A&M Quidditch.
But there are two groups that contrary to popular belief, don't have much of a difference between them—the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets and Greek sororities. Your first thought is probably, “How could one compare the two starkly polar organizations?” Easy. Here are five ways that they are easily associated with, or often misinterpreted for, one another. Better yet, let’s see which squad does it better.
Best "I'm Going to Class" look.
Both s’rat sisters and Corps Cadets most often abide by a strict standard of clothing by wearing matching uniforms to class. S’rat girls with the “lampshade” look and the cadets in their khakis. Who does it better?
Dude, why did you even leave your room?
Ah! Why aren't you wearing shorts?!
Cute leather boots.
Come fall, your trendy s’rat sisters are sporting their leather riding boots, ready to mount a horse if the opportunity arose, and your senior Corps Cadets are still giddily strutting in their spurred leather boots (spurs and khakis never really made any sense). So who does it better?
This one's a toughie.
#SquadGoals.
During football season, both groups rally behind their squads -- in both senses of the term -- emanating spirit from every pore (you too, “poreless” s’girls). Taking s’cute and fun pics at every event making sure everyone knows they are a part of an exclusive brother/sisterhood. Who does it better?

I think I know which one is the winner.
Recruitment pics.
At the start of the new school year, your newsfeed is most likely flooded with sorority and Corps of Cadets recruitment pictures and statuses promoting friendship, camaraderie, and so much fun! Incoming freshmen have no idea on all the good times they are about to have. Who does it better?
Hey, Fishie, you're so fine! Hey, Fishie!
Red hot Chio! Red hot Chio!
Communal living.
And somewhere along the journey of their involvement, whether it’s all four years or only one, both groups encourage communal living. What a great way to learn how to take care of yourself while respecting others! Who does it better?
Sororities, Texas A&M Corps of Cadets, to-may-to, to-mah-to; it’s all the same. Ultimately, it’s up to you to choose who does it better. But if I’ve learned anything today, I believe it’s that, despite all of the differences that exist between the most opposite types of individuals, that even the most unlikely groups of people have more in common than you would think. So, extend a hand to your neighbor, whether it’s a s’rat girl, a corps cutie, an astronaut, or a bug scientist. We’re all different, but are we really?
