No one has been there for me longer than my mom. From the moment I was born I had an inseparable bond with the woman who carried me without complaint for nine months. She shared her body with me, and as I grew up I would come to understand that she has always given me her world because to me, I am her world. No one has been a bigger inspiration in this life than my devoted, dedicated, and relentlessly loving mother. With each passing day I can't help but wonder how she does it. How can someone be your role model, support system when you fall, and your best friend? I've never hit rock bottom because I have a consistent backbone to support me, and that's my mom. It's the unwavering feeling of unconditional love even when you think at first you're alone. She's like the stars in my sky.
Here are a few things you'll understand if your mom is your best friend, too.
1. The first person you want to call after you passed that exam in the overly difficult class that you studied your butt off for is your mom, because she's listened to you complain about the professor and stressful nights for weeks. She'll be excited for you.
2. The advice she gives you about that boy? Yeah, she ended up being right.
3. She somehow knows you better than you know yourself.
4. Rough day? You go to Target for absolutely nothing in particular but it becomes a form of therapy.
5. "She adopts" your best friends into your family as if they were her own children and has love to spare.
6. She knows your Starbucks order, even when it's a mouthful.
7. Even when you mess up, sometimes big-time, she supports you and cheers you on.
8. She means more to you than any award or any temporary pain you're experiencing. You work to make her proud.
9. You wish that for once she would slow down her crazy busy life and take time for herself.
10. If you have your heartbroken and you wonder what love is, you don't have to wonder for long. The way she's always treated you is exaclty what love is.
