My family and I own a Great Dane named Clash. He is fifteen months old, and I would say he weighs around 130 lbs. Clash is an enormous dog, even though I don't see it. You can probably relate to these things listed below if you own a large dog like our Clashy.
1. They are as tall as you.
I mean, he has grown since then-- but you can look at this for reference. I am 5'2. Also, notice his kennel in the back-- it is the biggest they make and he has almost outgrown it.2. Slobber.
Clash slobbers everywhere. If you own a huge dog, you know that you always need to have a mop handy.
3. They eat more than you can imagine.
We feed Clash probably 8-12 cups of food daily. Plus "nacks." He is a spoiled puppy.
4. They drink around 3 gallons of water a day.
If you own a big dog, you know that you're constantly filling up their water bowl. Clash doesn't have a water bowl, though, he has more of like a basin. Cause, ya know, HUGE DOG.
5. People are afraid of your dog.
When people come to our house and visit, they're tentative to get out of the car. I know that our huge dog wouldn't hurt a mouse, and is even scared of people. Especially rakes. If you own a huge dog you know that they're like little babies.
6. They tear up their toys just as soon as they get them.
Clash can annihilate a stuffed animal in under 30 seconds. Most big dogs need indestructible toys, and if you own a big dog you know how expensive those can be.
7. Taking them to the vet is like taking a horse.
It is so hard to take Clash to the vet, and if you have a big dog you know the struggle. They try to run all over the car, and it is like having a whole other person ride in the car with you.
8. People always comment on their size.
"Whoa, that's a big dog!" I have heard that a million times.
9. Cutting their nails is an act of Congress.
It is next to impossible to cut a big dog's nails without three or four people. We even have to use a dremel to cut my dog's nails because they're so tough. It takes at least two of us, but at least we get it done.
