Short? We prefer to be called fun sized.
While being short can be convenient at times, it also presents many challenges and harsh realities. Here are just a few, that short people everywhere face.
1. The dreaded "It's on the top shelf."
Trying to reach anything that's on a high shelf or high place in general, is more than exhausting for someone of short height. It can turn into a full-blown workout, border lining on mission impossible.
2. People see you as someone to actually lean on.
Whether you like it or not, here comes a tall person to use you as their standing post. It comes with the job when you're short.
3. Proof of Identification?
Hearing, "Can I see your license?" is a common occurrence for us short folk. Even getting "carded" for something as embarrassing as an rated R film happens.
4. Tip-toeing is second nature.
You're always on your tip-toes. Literally, always. Almost any task you perform requires this of you anyways. It is a constant calf workout.
5. Sometimes you're actually invisible.
"Hello, I'm over here!" We get overlooked, it happens. Sometimes a blessing and sometimes a curse.
6. Trying to keep up with the tall person next to you.
At times, you actually break a sweat. It seems unfair when tall people arrive at the destination before you. Remind yourself that their legs are twice the length of yours.
7. When your feet can't touch the ground.
Whether it be on the bus or at your school desk, the locations are endless for where your feet can't touch the ground.
8. Being called "cute" because you're short.
It can sometimes come across patronizing, whether it be you're "cute," or "adorable." Apparently the two are synonyms now.
9. Pictures with your friends.
It always seems they choose you to be the selfie stick... Until of course they realize you have the shortest arm span. You just consider it a good shot if at least the majority of you can be seen in the picture.
10. You are constantly manhandled.
People will pick you up and throw you over their shoulder. They'll shift you as they please, and poke you in places you don't. It is the constant struggle.
