Ten Reasons Why Being Home For Break Is Awesome

College is awesome but so is home

Ten Reasons Why Being Home For Break Is Awesome

1. You get to be reunited with your high school friends.

Your friends from high school have most likely been missed a lot. Spending four years with a group of people can really create a bond like no other. College friends are great and you will most likely grow similar friendships with these people, but if you are a college freshman, like me, you may have not found a bunch of friends that make you feel the same way as your friends back home! Seeing your friends after a long time can be really emotional, so have some tissues at the ready. It may feel as if no time has passed since you all saw each other, or it might feel like centuries. Either way, it is a breath of fresh air to see them again. You get to truly be yourself; well, at least, your "high school self".

2. All your favorite restaurants taste brand new again.

If you're like me, you have a favorite restaurant that you had craving dreams about while you were at college. My favorite is a sushi restaurant that no other restaurant can ever beat in my book. When I took that first bite of my all time favorite roll, I swear I saw fireworks in the distance and angels singing beautiful harmonies.

3. Home is cozier than your dorm room.

Does your dorm have a fireplace? Probably not. If so, please tell me what college you go to so I can complain. Being home means you can curl up in your families collection of blankets, make a steaming cup of hot cocoa and sit in front of a crackling fire. What could be better than that?

4. You can light candles.

There are many downers to living in a dorm. The number one complaint I hear from my fellow dorm mates is that candles are not allowed. If you are someone who absolutely loves candles and can't last without them then college must be torture. I imagine that some people break these rules due to madness without these glorious flickering light producers. But when you are home you can light those candles up a storm. You can make a candle shrine!

5. Playing music loud usually isn't an issue.

If you have a roommate in college, you probably can't listen to your music until the crack of dawn (if you want to), but if you're at home, you can headbang to your heart's content. And there is no shame in what you play; you don't have to try and be cool by playing that new indie band. You can rock out to Brittany Spears all you like.

6. Alone time is the best.

What's better than being alone in your room? You can eat ice cream and catch up/re-watch all of "Gossip Girl", duh.

7. You get to see your pets again.

THEY ARE SO FLUFFAY

8. You hate to admit it but you actually missed your parents.

They are kinda okay to be around. They have free food. But after five weeks, it is time to GTFO.

9. HOMEMADE FOOD

Like I said before, food is the best. Home made food beats dorm food by a lot. You will also likely gain some weight because it will feel as if you have been starving yourself all semester and you are finally free.

10. Your full sized bed is heaven

You can sprawl out and kick all over that bed. And you can burrito yourself up in all those blankets. Mmmmm heaven.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
