Ten Gifts Every College Student Will Love

With college students flocking home for the holidays they aren't just excited about the free place to stay and home cooked meals, because let's be real Christmas is here and gifts are on the minds of everyone. So what do college students want? Because gift cards and fuzzy socks don't cut the mustard anymore. So here are ten gifts every college student will absolutely love.

  1. VR Headset
It's 2016 and while we don't have hovercrafts or time travel we finally mastered Virtual Reality. So head on over to your local tech store and pick up one of these bad boys, because riding a rollercoaster from the comfort of the couch is kind of the bomb.com They have virtual reality for everything now, want to explore a ship wreck? Virtual Reality. Want to brave it through a creepy mansion? Virtual Reality.
  2. Game Consoles
Technology is awesome, with advancements in the quality of video games everyone wants to get their hands on a PS4 or an Xbox S. Not to mention who doesn't want to hangout in the dorm or apartment with the sweet game system, am I right?
  3. Monthly Subscription
It's the gift that keeps giving, you can get subscriptions for cheese, vinyls, makeup, anything. So why not hook up your student with a monthly box of happiness? And if that doesn't float their anti-fun boat you could also pick up the tab for their Netflix or Spotify.
  4. Laptop or Tablet
Pen and paper is dead. And that laptop from 2002 might as well be dead. So why not give a gift that every college student needs. Not only will it be great for streaming that Netflix you just paid for but it'll also be super helpful in all the studying students do "every night".
  5. Apple Watch
Guys, they made a watch where you can track your fitness, text your friend, accept phone calls and even play games. Need I say more?
  6. Single Serve Coffee Maker
At some point it was said that college students aren't allowed to sleep. So instead of giving your student a Starbucks gift card that will be drained in two days why not gift them something that will keep them awake AND save them money (Yes, we are still poor).
  7. Stuffed Wallet
Wallets are great but honestly I haven't had anything but old gift cards in mine since August. So grab a cute wallet and stuff it with gift cards (preferably with money on them), cash and maybe a family photo or two. It'll definitely be a hit with any student.
  8. Headphones
If you're and college you somehow don't have any roommates that's good for you but for the rest of us it'd be great to own a pair of noise canceling headphones.
  9. Portable Speakers
Shower music. Beach parties (nothing rowdy we promise). Random dance sessions. Portable speakers are everything. Who doesn't want to jam out and ridiculously loud volumes?
  10. Sentimental keepsakes
After all the eye rolls and the cancelled weekend family plans. we still miss our peeps. So sometimes a memory board full of goofy family photos and little keepsakes are just what we need to take back to school.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
