The beginning of summer brings upon many new changes for everyone. Whether you're studying abroad, finishing up some summer classes, or making the money slaving away at work, summer is where everyone takes the time to do what they need to do in order to recuperate from the long semester. Although I live near the beach, I always run out of things to do. So in the event that you may have the same dilemma, I have come up with ten activities you can do when your summer becomes a drag.
1. Go to a music festival.
10/10 I definitely recommend Firefly. With three days of non-stop music in the woodlands, there is bound to be a set that you would thoroughly enjoy!
2. Be adventurous and do something you've never done before.
Skydiving is the biggest adventure you could do this summer. Skydive Delmarva is a place where you can fall 12,000 feet through the sky while the moment is captured for you.
3. Volunteer.
Take some time out of your summer to contribute your services to those that need it. If you're an animal person you could spend some time at the Humane society or if that's not your cup of tea, there is always a food pantry that could use some assistance.
4. Road trip.
A road trip with your closest friends is always a good idea. It doesn't always have to be expensive either. Road trip to your favorite beach or go towards a downtown area for a different way of life.
5. Go to an amusement park.
Amusement parks are always a must for thrill seekers. Busch Gardens happens to be my personal favorite.
6. Walk the boardwalk at night.
Rehoboth's boardwalk has a multitude of activities for everyone to do as a family where Ocean City's nightlife provides entertainment for singles like yours truly. Regardless of where you end up going you can never go wrong with the boardwalk.
7. Go kayaking at sunset.
Or sunrise for that matter. The bay provides a cool, calm night with amazing views, especially at these two times. Canoeing or kayaking will only heighten these views.
8. Attend the State Fair.
You can even get your canned goods ready and use them as your admissions fee one night. There are great performers this year including Little Big Town and Alabama that you could check out and if that's not your scene, you should always go for the food, animals, and people watching.
9. Complete DIY projects.
If you're like me, you're about to move into a new place. This means it's time to bust out the Pinterest boards and actually start making some of the projects you have pinned. You'll have your apartment Pinterest worthy in no time.
10. Do what makes you happy.
You can pick up a new hobby, sit by the beach, or even crack open a new book or two. Whatever you do, just make sure that you're happy doing whatever you want over the summer.
So ladies and gentlemen, no matter what you do this summer, make sure you make it one where you will have memories that will last you for he rest of the year!
