If you're like me, you love the summer. There are no classes to attend, no papers to write, and it just seems as if the days melt together. However, most of the time, you end up spending hours and hours on Netflix, binging on shows and not truly experiencing the amazing things that this season has to offer! So, here are just a few ways that I believe can help you make this summer the best it can be!

1. Go to a Carnival

Most towns or churches have some kind of carnival during the summer. It's such a great time to get some friends together, have a few laughs, and make a great day out of it! Sure, this picture was taken at the Spring Carnival at my school, but you can go out and create your own memories (and maybe meet your own alpaca!)

2. Have a Beach Day

There's nothing like a day at the beach- the fresh air, the warm sand, and the hot sun all create such a relaxing environment. Or, if you live somewhere where maybe your beaches are a bit rocky, there's always opportunities to go on a beach hike, or take some beautiful scenic photos!

3. Go on a Vacation

Being able to get away is always one of my favorite things to do in the summer. Whether it's just a simple day or two out of state, a week long trip across the country, or leaving America all together, and diving into a new culture, you always learn something from your travels. The people you see and the things that you do will shape you as a person, and you'll come back with amazing stories to tell your friends!

4. Have a BBQ

Burgers, friends, music, and laughs into the summer nights, how much better can it get? Grab your closest friends (and their amazing parents), make a fire playlist, and just spend some quality time together without the stress of school weighing down on you.

5. Get a Job

Listen to your mom when she tells you to get off the couch and be productive! Getting a summer job not only puts some cash in your pocket, but it's great experience for whatever career you want. Along with that, you meet some amazing people who become your friends for life! Also, if your job is as amazing as mine, try to make it to a few staff softball games. Even if you don't play, just sit in the dugout and cheer on your team!

6. Spend time with your Friends

This one is simple, but honestly it does make your summer better! Grab your friends and just take a drive to the mall, the tennis courts, or whatever else you like to do! It doesn't have to be an expensive day to be a good one.

7. Treat Yourself

Go and get those nails you wanted because girl YOU DESERVE THEM. You had a hard semester filled with meetings, exams, and tons of papers that we all know you finished the night before. Pampering yourself a bit is just what you need.

8. Go on a Road Trip

Again, grab your friends or family, pile into a car, and just go somewhere! it's surprising how close you really become with people when you're in a car with them for four hours, but there's always ways to spend the time! You can listen to music, play some car games, take some pictures, or my friends' favorite thing to do, simply laugh at the things that we have done. That ride will fly by, and in no time you will be running around creating memories, and maybe even raising a little bit of hell.

9. Spend Time with your Family

My family means the world to me, especially my little cousins! I love them like my own brother and sister, and I appreciate every moment I get to spend with them. With school being over not only for you, but for those younger members of your family, there are so many things you can do together! Whether that's just sitting on the couch and watching movies together, or going on a walk to the playground, make sure that your siblings or cousins are a part of your summer plans, because they grow up too quickly.

10. Read a Good Book

I love reading, but never really had time to do much of it this past semester. So, time to open my Goodreads app (which if you have it, follow me!), set a goal for the summer, and try to reach it. Reading is so relaxing, and each books takes you to a different world.

11. And Finally, Have Fun!

You're only young for so long, and summer is only a few months, so make the most of every day! Even if you know today's going to be one of those "sit in bed and watch Netflix" days, make it the best Netflix day you've ever had!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
