We all like hanging out with friends, but that's not always something we want to do. Sometimes, we just want alone time. Friends don't always understand that people just want some time to themselves. When you tell them you want to be alone, they will more than likely ask “What’s wrong?” or “Are you okay?” There is also a possibility that they will not believe you when say nothing is wrong. There are ways to get alone time and avoid these awkward conversations.
You can say you have homework to do. Your friends will probably believe you and let you go your own way. You can also say you’re tired, and don’t feel like hanging out. If you’re the average college student, your friends will definitely understand. If all else fails, just say you don’t feel like hanging out. They will more than likely understand and leave you alone. If you want to go with the direct approach, your friends might ask you if all is well. Just be honest, and if they don’t believe you when you tell them nothing is wrong, reassure them that you are telling the truth.
Nothing necessarily has to be bothering someone in order for them to want time to themselves. Some people just need their alone time. Not everybody likes being around others all the time. Not everybody understands this, though. Some people enjoy the company of others all the time. However, some people get uncomfortable when they're around others too often. This is a normal thing for some people. They feel as though they're being smothered because there are people around them all the time. They feel like they have no privacy and this makes them feel uncomfortable. If you're one of these types of people, it might be good for you to spend a night alone instead of hanging out with your friends. Telling your friends you want some time to yourself might be awkward at first, but sometimes it's what a person really needs.
Hanging out with friends is fun, but sometimes we all just need our solitude. Your friends will more than likely be OK with it if you do not go to a club with them for one night.
