Tebow Time

Throughout the past 10 years, a former Florida Gator has made his mark as being one of the most positive people alive. His name is Tim Tebow. Tebow has been an example for all the great philanthropy he does as well as for the strong faith belief he has. His faith and spirituality has allowed him to persevere and even act as inspiration for many people around the world.

Currently, Tim Tebow is making his mark in baseball, recently hitting two home runs for this baseball season. For those who don’t know, Tebow was a Heisman Trophy winning, two-time national champion at the University of Florida. Playing at the position of quarterback throughout college and making himself known as possibly being one of the greatest college quarterbacks to ever play, Tebow went to the NFL. While he had to climb the ladder starting from the NFL Draft, he was picked in the first round and eventually started for the Denver Broncos. In 2011, he made himself known for being the miracle man, leading comeback after comeback every single week. Tebow even won a playoff game for the Broncos against the Steelers, before losing to the Patriots in the Playoffs. That regular season for the Denver Broncos remains as one of the most memorable regular season performances in recent time. After the 2011 season, Tebow was eventually shipped from Denver to New York, where things did not work out very well. Eventually, Tebow was released by the New York Jets. Unfortunately, Tebow never got a chance to play in the regular season of the NFL after this. With only a couple short cameos in preseason football with the Patriots and the Eagles, Tebow’s football career ended on a relatively bitter note on the basis that many believed he was not able to throw at a very high level.

It was about a year or so ago when Tebow decided to attempt becoming a professional baseball player. When asked critically about why he was making the move, Tebow had a simple reply:

When are dreams based on chances? Dreams are based on something that’s in your heart that are passions, that are something that you want to go try. Not on chances. I mean, I’m so grateful that I get to go pursue something even if it’s a long shot … I think that’s something that’s unfortunate in society is a lot of people just go do what they feel like they should do and live with the status quo and go live by all these rules … rather than striving for something because the ultimate goal isn’t to succeed or fail, the ultimate goal is to give it everything you have for something that’s on your heart and a dream and pursuing that.

Tebow has repeatedly made many haters throughout his careers in professional sports. In football, the basis was his throwing mechanics, while in baseball it is the fact that he is pursuing something with the odds not in his favor. Nevertheless, Tebow has always found his strength and support in his family and spirituality. Tebow’s foundation is strong, and his endless will to strive for happiness in all he does is exactly what separates him from many others. In the end, Tebow will be one of the greatest sportsmen to have played professional sports because Tebow plays to express... not to impress.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
