It’s February 2017 and that means we are, as a nation, celebrating Black History Month. There’s a lot of focus on our new president and his administration. As a whole, Blacks have suffered and survived through worse. What’s important right now is to focus on building up and supporting our own

The media portrays African Americans as animals and savages while government officials beat and shoot us dead in the street. Our people are so misguided they have been wearing the clothing of designers who flat out say they wish we didn't wear their clothes. Our music has become a blue print of how to destroy the Black community from the inside, encouraging our young men to sling loud packs and worse, our young women to bend over and twerk something and everyone wants to be a trap star or hitter.

It’s Black History Month, and while we should celebrate and embrace Black culture all year long, at least for the rest of this month can we focus on what’s important, our community. What our ancestors fought for and how today’s generation lives, is a slap in the face to our ancestors. We have a chance to put Black money into Black hands, Black businesses, Black communities.

We have seen with our own eyes that it is up to US to enact change. There is power in unity, there is power in the Black dollar. There is power in sites like this and other Black media sites.

We are not a voiceless, senseless bunch. We have just been misguided and led astray. For those of you who want to get back on track BOOKMARK THIS PAGE and check out the links you find. Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
