For college students, the worst week of our lives has arrived. AKA FINALS WEEK. If you don't want to make finals week even more stressful than it already is, learn from my mistakes. Here is what NOT to do during finals week:
1. Do not procrastinate. It's a trap. Once you start procrastinating, there's no going back.
2. Do not wait until the day before your final to start studying. If you want to get a decent amount of sleep so that you can actually function during your final, I would suggest NOT waiting until the last minute to get some work done.
3. Do not waste any free time that you have. Now would probably not be a good time to start a new series on Netflix or binge watch ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas.
4. Do not take too many "breaks." A break is okay every now and then but if it turns into spending hours just scrolling through social media or watching cat videos on YouTube, it's time to stop and get some work done.
5. Do not pull an all nighter before your final. Sleep is just as important if you want to do well on your final.
6. Do not spend too much time hanging out or going out. Unfortunately this week you may want to prioritize studying over hanging out with friends. Time flies when you're having fun which means by the time you realize what time it is, it'll be too late and you'll be too tired to want to study. Study first and then when you're done you can hang out with friends. And chances are, your friends should probably be studying too so help each other out by not hanging out.
7. Do not try to study with your phone next to you. Most likely, it won't work.
8. Do not let every little thing distract you. If you have a Mac, go to SelfControlApp.com and download the app. It's a great tool to help you block out distractions.
9. Do not procrastinate. Did I already say that? Yeah, just don't procrastinate. It makes finals week 10 times more miserable.
10. Lastly, just do your best, reduce your stress and you'll get through it!
