With the school year over many of us will soon find ourselves with more time than we know what to do with. Before you let yourself get into the habit of eating pretzels and ice cream all day long in front of the TV, try and explore a few summer time resolutions to use your time productively and wisely, and in turn boosting your energy levels, confidence and happiness. It's time to take the summer by the horns and really take charge! If you find yourself having trouble establishing a resolution, here are a few ideas to help you get started.
1. Establish a new routine
The beginning of summer vacation is a fantastic opportunity to really set some time aside to start fresh. Set your alarm and make a habit of getting up at the same time everyday to increase productivity and boost energy levels. Sleeping until 3 P.M. is great every once in awhile but sooner or later the feeling of sleeping more than half the day away will leave you feeling even more sluggish and unproductive that usual. Start your day with something that makes you feel energized and happy in order to start the day off on a pleasant and engaged manner.
2. Evaluate previous eating habits
During the school year we often find ourselves eating what is most convenient over what might be a little bit healthier for us. With the spare time summer brings, take some time to evaluate your eating habits, and create a shopping list of body-happy and healthy foods to help you feel more energized throughout the day. Who knows, maybe the eating habits will continue on into the next school year and leave you looking healthier too!
3. Establish a workout routine
Along with your newfound wake-up time from your brand new established routine, try and start your day with a little exercise to boost your metabolism and start the day strong. Working out in the morning will not only wake you up completely, but will help you to start the day feeling accomplished and productive. Let this feeling continue on throughout the day and you'll find yourself getting more done than you ever thought you could!
4. Find a new hobby
It could be as simple as starting to color in a coloring book, or something bigger like learning how to play a new instrument. Use your new freedom to channel your energy towards something productive. Sitting around on your phone or laptop all day long in the end will leave you feeling sluggish and unaccomplished, and not to mention could lead to some summertime blues and sadness. Get yourself out there to find a new skill or activity that you genuinely enjoy, and work everyday towards improvement in that area!
5. Get a job!
Combine being active and productive with making money and you have the perfect summer opportunity! Getting a job is an easy way to feel like you're helping others and being involved with your community all while earning some extra cash on the side. When has a little extra gas money ever been a bad thing?
