Your Summer 2016 Style Guide

Summer is a time where you can dress however you please. Shorts, slacks, dresses, denim, whatever the weather is like you have a multitude of options. If you're a fashionista, you are always looking for the next trend and the hottest item of the season. If, quite frankly, you don't care about fashion, you still need to find some pieces you like. That being said, here is a list of some of the hot-ticket items that will be popping up this summer. From crop tops to flowy skirts, there truly is something for everyone.

1. Kimonos

I don't know how these haven't been popular for years, but they are the perfect addition to any summer outfit. Light, comfortable and stylish.

2. Cut Out One-Pieces

My mom always told me, "Modest is hottest," and now it really is. One-pieces are back in, but with a kick. Cut-outs in the front, back and sides, I'm sure you'll find one that fits your personal style.

3. Structured Rompers

Rompers are a summer staple, but instead of the elastic clad getup we are use to, the ones we're seeing now are tailored and refined. While some still have an elastic waist to enhance your natural curves, most are tailored to fit the natural waist and are dressy enough to wear on a fancy date.

4. Harem Pants

These are the most comfortable pants ever and that makes them perfect for the hotter months. Loose fit and tailored at the ankle, harem pants should be your go-to item on cooler days.

5. Denim Skirts

The 90's have been back, but now 00's styles are creeping back into popularity. Denim mini-skirts were all the rage and a resurgance of the style will be in full-swing this summer.

6. High-Waisted Ruffled Shorts

Denim shorts are an essential, but cotton shorts the new contender. Having a bottom that is fun and flirty elevates any outfit and brings out your playful side.

7. Distressed Boyfriend Jeans

Who doesn't love a good boyfriend jean? The relaxed fit is perfect for lounging around or running errands, and you'll look damn good doing it.

8. High-Wasted Bikinis

This trend started growing in the summer of 2015, but 2016 will be the year high-wasted bikinis over take their belly-baring relative. They are stylish, flattering on all and give you that cool, vintage look.

9. Fall Colors for Summer Clothing

This trend was big on the runways, but maroons and olive greens are popping up all over. Dresses, shirts, tank tops, you name it. This summer fall colors will be all around us, just on the clothes we're wearing.

10. Round Sunglasses

Thank LC for helping this trend {Lauren Conrad forever <3}, but they are perfect for a fresh, funky look and go with anything you wear.

11. Loose Tunic Dresses

When it's not, you don't want anything too tight. Wearing loose clothing when it is scorching out is perfect and a tunic dress fits the bill. Pick one up asap and you will not regret it.

12. Leather Accessories

Another runway trend from this year and there is a reason for that: they tie together the perfect boho outfit. If you're against leather, there are tons of faux-leather options available.

13. Harness Necklaces

These necklaces were all the rage at Coachella and they are going to be trending all summer long. The intricate look pairs well with a loose tank, bralette or crop top.

14. Halter Tops

Personally, I never thought I could wear a halter top. But, I recently tried one on and I am obssesed. They fit the bust and waist line exquisitly, and pair well with all bottoms.

15. Embellished Belts

Selena's iconic style is coming back! This trend has me pumped for the summer, and hopefully it carries over into the fall.

16. Wide Brim Hats

Getting ample protection from UV-rays is a must and wide brim hats aid that process tremendously. They are protective, great accessories and make anyone a hat person.

17. Turban Headbands

Pair this hair accessory with a dress, harem pants, skirt, crop top, whatever. These are perfect for a messy hair day, or any day that you want to look fabulous.

18. Lace-Up Sandals

I like to call this style the refined gladiator sandal. The laces are isolated to ankle region and dress up any simple outfit. I own a couple pairs already, and by the end of the summer, I'll probably have a dozen.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
