If you are anything like me, you are always looking for the next Netflix show to binge on. Lucky us, Netflix is always putting up new seasons and new shows. Plus, summer is the best time to binge. Less commitments and late nights make for the perfect Netflix and chill. So if you are looking for some suggestions, I've got you covered. Here are some of my favorites that have at least two seasons because you are going to want it to last.
If you love superheroes...
1. "Arrow"
Hot men, action scenes, love affairs, and sharp twists, need I say more? "Arrow" is based off of DC Comic's "Green Arrow." It follows Oliver Queen, millionaire playboy who shipwrecks on an island and faces multiple challenges that transform him into a new man. When he returns after being presumed dead, he becomes the Arrow. The Arrow vows to protect the city he loves at all costs, but will the city love him back? With three seasons out and a fourth coming soon, you won't be able to look away.
2. "Daredevil"
Although Daredevil is a Marvel character, he shares the same love and devotion to his home as Arrow does. Matt Murdock was blinded as a young boy and developed heightened senses as a result. He is a lawyer by day, but fights off the corrupted villains that threaten Hell's Kitchen (hence the name, Daredevil) by night. He struggles to balance his two identities with his friends who are always by his side no matter what and you never know what could happen. You'll be on the edge of your seat for this one.
3. "Heroes"
This show may not be new, but it is definitely worth your time. Heroes involves many ordinary people who all discover they have supernatural powers. As each story unfolds, you see how they all intertwine and how they have to work together to save the world. It isn't as cheesy as it sounds. The cast is very diverse and characters are from all over the world. Time travel, flying, super strength, telekinesis—any more you can think of, this show has it. You'll be rooting for your favorite hero. Personally mine is Hiro Nakumaura. With four seasons, I advise you to take your time and enjoy.
If you love sitcoms...
1. "Friends"
Okay, so this is my all-time favorite show and it is timeless. You have probably seen a rerun at least once. This show is about six friends that all live together in New York City. There is something to love about every character and you will laugh out loud. If you need cheering up, "Friends" is always there for you. With 10 seasons, you won't have to worry about saying goodbye for a long time.
2. "Parks and Recreation"
Leslie Knope is my role model in life. This show follows a Parks and Recreation department in the town of Pawnee, Indiana documentary-style of their lives and the politics around them. The characters are all so different: from feminists, to pessimists, to luxurious and silly, even. I'd want to work here if I ever had the chance. Bribery with waffles may be involved. This show has all six seasons to fall in love with.
3. "Bojack Horseman"
This one may not be as well-known or popular, but hear me out. My friends and I stumbled across this Netflix series last summer and were hooked. It is about a washed-up celebrity trying to write a book about his life many years later. It is not for the easily offended or someone who needs a good plot line. It gets weird, random, and way too deep most times, but if you are into that sort of thing, then definitely check it out. Lucky for you, the third season comes out this month, so you've got some time to catch up.
If you love an emotional rollercoaster drama...
1. "Orange is the New Black"
If you haven't heard of this show yet, you are living under a rock. It is just as much of a drama as it is a comedy. It is all about the women in Litchfield Penitentiary and their day-to-day lives in prison. As seasons go on, you learn more about the backstories of the characters and how they ended up there. There are prison gangs, sex scenes, fights, and deaths. I know people have been telling you to watch it, just do it. Season four just came out and it will make you cry.
2. "Grey's Anatomy"
Another popular one that your best friend probably has complained to you about how it ruined them. "Grey's Anatomy" follows a group of doctors while they work in a hectic Seattle hospital, as well as their complicated relationships with each other. It starts out following a group of interns who eventually make their way up the chain. New characters come and some of your favorites go. You can never predict what will happen next. You love it and hate how it makes you feel sometimes. Try to watch 12 seasons dry-eyed, I dare you.
3. "Lost"
This is an older one, but is a must-see for science-fiction fans or if you like to figure things out. A plane crashes on its way from Sydney to Los Angeles. It lands on a small island in the middle of nowhere. The survivors have to work together to get back home, but they may not be alone. This is one you have to pay every bit of attention to or you will be lost (get it). Just coming up with your own theories for the show is entertaining enough. There are six seasons to try and figure out what in the world in going on.
