The days are getting longer and the temperature is getting higher. As the summer season approaches, it might be difficult to think of different activities to stay entertained. Let's face it, we've all had those moments of sadness when we can't think of anything to do. Lately, I've been thinking about different fun activities I can do over the summer with friends.
Here are a few activities in New England you might want to consider while looking into those summer ideas.
1. Go to a theme park.
As most of you know, theme parks are a great way to spend your summer. You can have fun riding as many roller coasters as you can, chilling out near the concession stands while eating all the food you've been craving, and even cooling yourself down with an attraction that splashes you from all sides. One place I've always had fun is Canobie Lake Park , located in Salem, New Hampshire. For years, I've gone to this place with my summer camp and it has never failed to entertain me and my friends.
2. Go alpine sliding.
Last summer, I was introduced to a new and exciting thing to do. For the first time, I was lifted onto a chairlift not to ski, but to ride in a little cart down a slide. These cars contain a lever that you can use to break and accelerate to go the speed you want down the mountain. The place I went to was called Bromley Mountain Ski Resort and was so much fun! It was a great way to say good-bye to one of my closest high school friends who moved out of the country shortly after the summer ended. Did I mention it has a zip line?
3. Try some high ropes courses.
Ropes courses have always been a favorite of mine. I love the feeling of being up high and doing something unique. The set up for every ropes course you go to is very different. I remember going to a ropes course in France with a bunch of my friends while it was rainy and slippery. That course would probably be my favorite one I've been to so far. The best part of the day was finishing it with a giant zip-line. It was great to be cheered on as I reached the end. The whole experience was very rewarding and exciting. Usually, this kind of activity wears you out and leaves you exhausted and accomplished. Ramble Wild is a great course to try!
4. Go to a trampoline park.
Honestly, who didn't love jumping on trampolines when they were younger? Houses with trampolines were my favorite houses to go to, even over swimming pools. If there is nothing you can think of to do, head on over to a trampoline park. It's a great way to get some exercise while having fun doing it. Launch is a favorite among my friends and it has great music.
5. Go to a water park.
I remember going to a water park at a very young age and having a fun time, but I was too short for some intense slides. This summer is a perfect time to go and enjoy some wet and crazy fun on a hot summer day. Watch out for your bathing suits though because I do remember adjusting myself multiple times.
6. Try out zorbing.
Ever wonder what it's like to be a hamster in a ball? Well, now you can and it's located in Massachusetts. For a while, I've wanted to buy one of these balls for myself, but Amesbury Sports Park will work for now. There are two types of Zorb globes where you can either be harnessed in or sit freely in 10 gallons of water while rolling down a hill. This place is home to many more activities like the Warrior Dash, Spartan Race, and 'Run For Your Lives' which is a 5K zombie race. I'm extremely excited to try this place out this summer.
7. Get out and climb a mountain.
There is no better view than the ones you see looking across a city or a town. Over the summer, you should climb at least one mountain. During my time in high school I was able to climb Mount Monadnock and experience some dramatic temperature changes between climbing the mountain and the summit of the mountain. One cool thing about this specific mountain is that you can actually see the Boston skyline off in the distance when you reach the top.
