Depression is a serious illness that shouldn't be taken lightly. Over the last couple years, suicide rates have dramatically increased. Suicide does not discriminate; age, gender, sexual orientation, or the color of your skin. It can happen to anyone. How many times can I say the word "suicide" before you start to get weird out and you go run and hide? Depression is the number one cause of suicide. Anyone dealing with depression or has lost someone to suicide knows how hard it it to go through.
Suicide takes the life of 42,773 Americans every year. September is Suicide Awareness Month, but we should be spreading awareness everyday. Everyone should know the warning signs. Four out of five young adults show the warning signs and will try and kill themselves. Suicide should not be taken lightly and should never be joked about, cause you never know who is actually thinking about it. Suicide doesn't just affect family and friends. It affects the world.
Some people believe suicide takes the pain away, but in reality that pain goes to someone else; the parents whom just lost their precious child, the friend who lost their best friend forever now gone, and to everyone you ever meet, ever talked to, made memories with now those conversations and memories will fade and you will become a distant memory. We think we know about suicide, but we don't know enough. Anyone suffering from depression and/or contemplating suicide, You are not alone. Suicide doesn't take the pain away, it eliminates the possibility of it getting better. Suicide: It is REAL, it is DEADLY, and it NEEDS to be TALKED ABOUT.
