I get a lot of flack for using the elevators to go up one story. My friend gets a lot of flack for using a motorized cart in meijer. Why? We’re teenagers. And this is what it really means to be a teenager with a non obvious handicap.
We can still do most things that you can do.
We just do it a little different. We can run. But only for a few minutes on a elliptical. We love to paint, we just can’t get down on the ground next to your kids to do it. It’s better to paint sitting on a high chair.
Some days are better than others.
Some days I can walk a whole mile without taking a break!
But some days are worse than others.
Because I was able to walk a mile yesterday… doesn’t mean that I can walk a mile today. Infact, no, no I can’t walk today because yesterday’s mile was real hard and took a lot out of me.
I’m just like you.
I’m just a little more tired and sore. I don’t like to admit that I have a handicap… that’s hard. But I do like when you understand me.
