To be honest, I'm still unaware how this happened. It could be the fact that everyone in my house is always screaming; therefore, I was forced to pull a Darwin and adapt in order to survive up in here. However, it also could have to do with the fact that I'm Italian and along with flapping my hands while I speak comes a... how do I put it... "outdoor voice?" Either way, I'm really loud all the time, legit all the time. Unfortunately a lot of struggles come with this curse... errr, gift... I'm not really sure what to call it. Checkout the daily struggles I speak about below.
1. We scare shy people
Well, sh*t! I think I made this girl sh*t her pants in fear and if that wasn't bad enough, I probably said something along the lines of "Oh my god, am I scaring you? Are you OK?" while in the process of yelling to her about my day. I mean, I thought I was just talking, but she looks like she just saw a ghost. Her eyes are watery and her head seems to be permanently nodding in agreement. Are you well, Felicia?
2. And even worse... we scare boys
I find that a lot of boys shy away from loud girls because they are intimidated by them. We are a lot to handle but don't be scared, we're most likely really nice ... but then again it's always possible some of us are really mean. Anyway, life is a daily struggle. As if boys weren't frustrating enough, it's even harder when they are terrified to talk to you!
3. People mistake us for being a b*tch
I am not a b*tch, OK, people. I am just loud! I am actually quite nice if you had the bravery... or earplugs to stick around and get the chance to know me. It should be what you are saying that determines if you are being rude, not how loud you say it.
4. We don't realize how loud we really are
If I had a nickel for every time that I have been told to use my "inside voice" I could probably buy the entire U.S.A. gymnastics team and pay them to be my personal entertainment for the rest of my life. I really should invest in something like that ... is that even legal? I have easily been told to quiet down a million times thus far as an 18-year-old. It never seems to work though. I really don't mean to cause a disruption but I honestly have no idea what an inside voice is.
5. When we get excited we sound like we're angry as hell
I'm not angry. In fact, I'm terribly happy, I'm just super passionate about [insert passion here.] I enjoy screaming about it because I scream regularly when I'm happy and excited.
6. We have the Irish whisper 24/7
Much like a drunk person, we have a hard time keeping our voice down, especially when we are trying to keep something on the DL because chances are we are excited about it. Secrets are exciting. Don't hate us if we accidentally spill your secret because we are being too loud. We're so sorry!
After reading this I hope you realize we mean no harm, we really don't. It's in our DNA to yell like this. Have patience with us when we try to lower our voices. Also note that we are very good conversationalists, so never shy away, especially if you want a good laugh.
