The FRIEND ZONE is defined by Urban Dictionary as: "What you attain after you fail to impress a woman you're attracted to. Usually initiated by the woman saying, "You're such a good friend". Usually associated with long days of suffering and watching your love interest hop from one bad relationship to another. Verb tense is "Friend-ed"." I am living proof that women can definitely be put in the “Friend Zone” by men every day. Here are the struggles.

1. You have so much in common that your conversations can go on for hours… about literally nothing

2. They introduce you to their obsessions and you too, become obsessed (i.e. TV shows, movies, books, food)

3. You listen to stories about the girls they find attractive and their past relationships only to find yourself slightly jealous and wanting to scream (ex. Kylie Jenner, some of your sorority sisters...)

4.They are your only topic of conversation when it comes to your other friends to the point where they not only know your feelings, but his entire life story and they just met him

5.When it comes to your mutual friends, they know both sides of the story and are really good making a non-awkward situation awkward

6.You over analyze every situation thinking it might mean more than you think, but you already know you are “JUST FRIENDS”

7.You want to talk to them at all times of the day, but you can’t out of fear of annoying them

8.Your entire family knows all about them because you can’t seem to stop talking about them or bring them up at least twice in a conversation.

9.You find any excuse to text or snapchat them knowing that you will get a really generic one-word answer (ex. nice, cool, wow…)

10. You have to play it cool when you guys are hanging out so that you don’t let him know that you are dying of a crush so that things don’t get weird

11. They cross your mind like 50 million times a day, but you have to keep telling yourself to get over it

12. You take selfies together and show those pictures to everyone you know because you are trying to prove that you guys make a cute couple (ex. OMG here is us at a party, and when we hung out last Tuesday…)

13. You are too afraid of telling him how you feel because you don’t want to make things awkward and risk your friendship

If any of these sound like you I’m afraid you might be stuck here in the FRIEND ZONE li!

The plus side is you have a really great friend that you get to spend time and make memories with! These emotions will hopefully fade and you can continue to hang out with the cool, guy friend that you have. If they don’t there will hopefully be a chance for you to move on in the future, just try not to close other doors waiting on your friend!
